When I first got my hands on my masuri I thought it was very heavy but after a net or two it felt just like any other lid. I think over the years the idea was always to get a helmet as light as possible and people started to forget that their neck muscles could actually handle a helmet which is slightly more weighty.

General consensus seems to be that the weight is irrelevant once it's been worn a couple of times. Also when you consider the safety aspect, then weight should be irrelevant from the outset.

What size did you try on? There are 3 sizes available (small mens, men's and large men's).

I know, from personal experience, that the new Masuri range are heavy but as mentioned it doesn't feel bad after a net or too. However, the hardest feature for me to overcome is the second bar which is right in the way of the bowlers arm and delivery.

I've got a massive head and the largest previous model of Masuri's just didn't fit and felt like it was just balancing on top of my head. Has anyone who may have suffered similar issues tried the new model, is it any different?

The mens one fit me but the grilles on the mens & large mens weren't big enough for my face. The large mens was huge, I've got a fairly big head and it was very big on me

I've had similar issues.  When measured, it's clear that the circumference of my head's not unusually large.  But I had the same experience as you.  Helmets that just balanced on top.  For me, it's shape rather than overall size.  I think mine's slightly longer, front to back, than most homo sapiens, or maybe a bit deeper (though no one has ever remarked on it).  In the past, motorbike helmets were always problematic.

I tried on every batting helmet going, and eventually settled on an Ayrtek with the ACIS.  Even that, though, wasn't ideal, as the grill sat quite high on my chin.

I was really keen to try the new Masuri Senior Large, but couldn't find any shop that had one in stock, so I went to their nearby HQ in December and tried one on.  The good news was that it works for me.  It's the best fit I've found.  If I was to quibble, it sits fractionally low on my forehead, so I might put in some strategically placed foam for the perfect fit.  It also has an adjustable bit at the back.  Better to have a helmet that's slightly too large, that can be adjusted to fit, than one that you can't even force on.

I recommend you try one.

A bit of an update for you all
I ended up biting the bullet and buying the new Masuri helmet.
Honestly I thought it weighed a ton, and I had trouble seeing through it in the shop, but seeing Countless players wearing this helmet walking away unscathed, I decided to purchase it. So I used it for my first net yesterday, and in complete honesty it feels exactly the same as my masuri elite, the weight difference is extremely hard to notice, if not impossible to notice. I found myself focusing 10% on the ball and not focusing about little niggles worked wonders as I had my doubts about this helmet. And as for the double bar, it's just like looking out of any ordinary helmet, although it seems that I have more vision in this helmet than my elite model. Also, it feels like it adjusts better to suit ones head. I found the maser elite to shake around quite a lot sometimes, but with this helmet I don't have the same issue thanks to the fantastic upgraded internal padding and the adjustor at the back, no more of that horrible velcro adjustment!
I am extremely happy with the helmet, and would definitely recommend it to anyone. And it definitely looks better in person

The Vision Series Large is bigger than the old style large.

We have a customer who had your exact problem in the old style Masuri, so elected not to wear a helmet at all. We have just done a custom helmet for him with his club logo in a large that will be here shortly. He tried on the stock large in store and liked it so much he went all out with the club logo.

I second all the recent positive feedback, i have had my new masuri next to my old and the gap between grill and visor is more or less the same. the difference is negligible. i have to also agree with the comfort, the padding is far better and it feels much much better on the head and forehead. anyone worried about the weight needn't be, fair enough i shelled out for the titanium, but my old style masuri was also titanium and i dont really notice an difference in weight when i have been batting in nets.

This is a feature some people appreciate, not all, but it is a cool thing to be able to say about a piece of sports equipment in a world dominated by the far east and subcontinent.
