So back in August I ordered a couple of bats. Massive thanks to Dave who sent me pictures of clefts to choose from. To be honest I was more interested in weight as opposed to looks. Been down the good looking route for many years. The plan was to have my match bat copied and design my own bespoke bat. For some reason I changed my mind and had them both made to the same design. The cleft weights were 358 and 363.
Do my specs were for the bat to have a low middle, maximum spine height, with the spine running from toe to shoulder, with minimal concaving and a thick handle.
Here are the bats
The bats came in lighter than I was expecting. They were meant to be 2-10 1/2 and 2-11. They came in at 2-10 and 2-10 1/2, the multi grainer has around 25 grains and is all heartwood and was the 358 cleft. Not usually a heartwood fan, well Im usually in disgust at them but this actually looks good, probably as its all dark wood. Both bounce a ball extremely well. I've tried knocking in the heavier bat but seems to be un dentable, even with my m&h mallet.
The finish of the bats are very good. Not sure what they use but I'm thinking a wax of some sort. the heavier bat has a smaller spine height. Other than they are pretty much identical. My only gripe with the service/sale was no bat covers. I had a previous 2nd hand B3 and that had one so I presumed these would of had one as well.
Anyway, big thanks to Dave and the Dr.
