Hi guys, just wondering what size pads you all use. I'm 5'9" and have both junior/youth and men's pads and both seem to fit well, the youths just a slightly bit smaller (obviously). The youths just seem lighter. Wondering if there is anyone eslse around my height who uses junior sized pads.

Small Mens from various brands, or GM Womens maybe mate?

Im 1.72 meters short and use the ayrtek youths pads  fantastic fit and nice short straps.

I'm 6'1 and have used Mens and small men's. Currently using SS pro issue which came up slightly smaller than my GM OLEs (so I guess I'm using Small Mens at the moment)

I'm 5 foot 9 and use men's pads. However, I don't use a thigh pad so the slightly extra height helps. I think a lot of it depends on the length of your lower leg so that your knee is centred on the knee bolster.
Use whatever suits you and you feel comfortable with. Try on a few brands and see as they will differ slightly. Avoid any pads with long straps though.

Our Youth pads have been snapped up by a few adults thy wear them, Prob a few on the forum I think too.

Best thing to do is measure from instep to centre of the knee as different brands will vary in size.

I am one of those mentioned! Great fit in terms of the knee for me at about 5"7. I have  freaky large calfs though so a bit of me does think they don't wrap round as far as my old pads...not planning on changing though and I have to say moving to youth/small men's softs and a Ssh bat defiantly feels better when at the crease.

Me too - I don't have freakishly large calves and I still got nipped in that area by one of Tim2000's inswingers when wearing full size pads, so the illusion of more protection remains as an illusion. The Ayrtek pads are a great fit - knee in the right spot and obviously much lighter. Top quality - wish I'd tried smaller pads years ago - ditto youth sized gloves.

Panel umpires on a saturday, or your own team mates midweek or on sundays!
They love giving that finger exercise!

I like small top hats and this is what fit me wrap around the best

Another midget here (power to the hobbits), I am 5.7 and I use small mens or youths depending on the brand.

I think if you get the smaller size you actually get better protection (as the protection is in the right place!) and will run much better between the wickets.  Also either Indian mens or western youths/small mens gloves are spectacular for us vertically challenged individuals.

I laugh when I think about how I used to try and wear mens sizes... I must have looked like a 5 year old in all that oversized gear

Am 5ft 8 and am an advocate of Youth or Small Men's size batting pads, depending on brand.

I have tried Salix and M&H Alpha in Youth ; Kook and G-N in Small Men's. On balance, the latter size are a better fit as slightly longer and knee is positioned perfectly. Not much in it and if Youth's are priced lower still worth considering. Will vary per brand and yes instep to knee point is key.

(in gloves Salix Youth, M&H Youth, Kook Small Men's all good; standard Men's in G-N were good too, a pair of Legend Small Men's felt restrictive but may have loosened up. Kook Youth too small).

5.6/5.7 and I use Aero P1 Small pads. Best protection and lightest men's pads in that size.
