Nerve Root Damage
« on: March 30, 2015, 09:21:29 AM »

Recently been bothered with disc and nerve root pain, causing my whole neck/shoulder to freeze up and basically leave me bed ridden for three weeks. I suffer from an issue which means my neck lacks the natural curve that everyone has, this might also be a factor.

After seeing 5 doctors, 2 physios and a chiropractor, I'm running out of time and money before the season!

The pain around the shoulder/arm is almost clear however the underlying nerve pain is absolutely still there. I can't do any movement requiring force with either arm, no throwing, batting or bowling.

Anyone had any experience with this?

The chiropractor I saw suggested the pain could be coming from batting, forcing my head to look side on over my shoulder. So basically ruled out batting altogether :( :(

Whenever I have seen a doctor about any kind of joint/muscle pain I get a stock answer - "it's probably a trapped nerve so take some nurofen until it frees up" . i know a few guys now who take painkillers before a game to avoid post match pain. Not entirely healthy in my opinion. If you have to play with something masking the pain then you are storing up trouble. Hope you get it sorted!

knackered neck is why i have to give up. Every 6 - 12 months my neck just gives up and I literally cant move

went to see a specialist 2 years ago who thinks i may have broken my neck when landing on my chin taking a catch. Nothing conclusive so I just have to soldier on ....... so im just going to play 20-20 which i hate :(
