YOUR 2015 SEASON
« on: April 05, 2015, 07:26:41 PM »

Soo we had our friendly  today and what a glorious day to play cricket sunshining all day. Didn't need the thermals after all.

We got the other team out for 174 and we knocked it off in the 26th over and only lost 4 wickets.

I finished the match in style hitting the Oppos captain for 3 sixesin a row; 1 over midwicket that nearly hit my brother on the head 1 over square leg then finished it by dancing down the ground and hitting it over cover.

Long story cut short - we had our boundary extended over the winter. This includes removing some trees and flattening the ground where they were. The grass had just grown back and it was looking like a cricket pitch when the contractors came to do something about the drainage. We now have a sandpit at one end of the ground, starting at mid on, round to mid off and going back to the boundary!
2 weeks until the first game and our ground looks like this:

T20 friendly game that we lost by 1 run. Pulled off an awesome paddle sweep but that was the highlight of my batting that summed up to 10 runs.

Had an inter club friendly today...
Bowled atrociously, but that is leg-spin and indoor nets for you!

Top scored with 30 (after batting for a long, long time) before being told hit out or get out, took a pretty good catch running around and jumping on the boundary, and also took a sharp stumping. I'm super happy- I don't know about you all, but isn't it great to be back on a cricket field!!!

First game, oppos had a quality fast bowler, quicker than 99% of what I'll see in my league. Was good fun though, isn't make a single error and had Mr angry cursing. Unfortunately in his last over i toed a ball onto my toe and onto my stumps :(

Would say gutted but it was pre season and I'd had a good bat. Wouldn't have minded a easier First game to get into it but hey ho shame the rest were dire so others tucked into half trackers twice an over :( boo

Played my first game, had an absolute mare.
Bowled 1-42 off 8, which wasn't to bad but
Batting got a 4th baller to one that I muddled onto my pads and was given out lbw but

Drove 2 hours, lbw on my 3rd ball when I was batting a foot outside the crease, it was going down leg(it honestly was, other players said so) oh and it was actually the 7th ball of the over!!!!!!!!!!!
Have to say I had a great time though. We were 9 for 4 or something silly and then managed to end up with 181. I even had a bowl for the first time in 5 years... Managed to pick up the tricky final wicket!

Big thanks to @RF, it was a very fun and enjoyable day out.

Had 2 friendlies this weekend.

The first against Newport CC in Wales, batting first saw off the openers but managed to spank a ball straight to midwicket on 31.

Went 1 better yesterday and scored 32 against Wellington CC in Somerset, hit a big straight six followed by 2 fours in successive balls, then the bowler bowled a decent yorker that clipped the bottom of off pole!

Dropped an easy catch and took a difficult one, typical.

First proper training session done.
Batted okay, starting to find some rhythm with my bowling and took a few catches.

Took a one handed overhead effort then dropped a skyer and a diving one handed effort, my hand now feels very sore! Roll on the first game on Saturday  :D

our university 2nd team started the season today in a friendly against a touring side from cambridge which was quite shocking tbf... t20 match and we skittled them all out for 61 and we chased that in 9 overs without even losing a wicket.... Was going in at 3 didn't even get the chance... bowled 1 ball and smack the top of middle to finish their innings off....
