I would ask if there is a reason behind it. Especially if there isn't a system of if an opener in the 2's are scoring runs then they get promoted to the 1's. So it is a like for like replacement.

Very angry/gutted/frustrated with my cricket club this week.

I haven't had the best season so far with the bat, but currently averaging about 25 and hit 170 odd runs opening up, which makes me the 2nd top run scorer, and I'm currently the top wicket taker for the 1st team bowling leggies.

This week I've been told I've been dropped to the 2's, with a number of young/inexperienced players in the 1st team. Not sure what to make of this, haven't had a real reason why I've been dropped!

Especially frustrating as I turned down 2 offers to be paid to play this year, and even travelled over 100 miles back from Uni for the first 4 games of the season, I chose to stay loyal to my club and this is how they repay me!

The first reason they kind of gave me was that I hadn't scored the big runs that they expected me to hit before the season, which is fair enough- but only 1 person in the side has hit more than me! Besides that, I said I'm happy to bat 7,8,9,10 or even 11, and play as a bowler as I've been taking wickets recently...

Anyway, hopefully get a big'un in the 2's and be back for next week and it will all be forgotten about

I feel your pain Ian, I've been up and down with no real reason for some years now! A couple of seasons ago I took a 5fer in the 1sts and was back in the 2s the next week. I don't mind moving about really, but I never seem to get a reasonable chance to nail down a position in the order. Already this season I have batted everywhere but 4 (1 and 5 for Sunday team, 2, 6 and 7 for my club 2xi at home, 3, 6 and 8 for club at uni 1xi, 9-11 for uni 1xi and 10 for home club 1xi) This is particularly frustrating because I am feeling great with the bat, as well as already having taken 25 wickets this season but I am not being given a chance to show my batting form.

Since my last post I've had a good time with a couple of hundred runs overall including 47 from 26 in a match that my Academy side (all 14/15 and me aged 21) were up against a side with 7 adults, 3 15/16 year olds and a lad who looked about 12. Unsuprisingly our 238ao from 40 was overhauled in under 29 overs just 4 wickets down.
Made the Sussex honours board a couple of weeks ago playing for Firle vs Gilderidge. Finished with figures of 13.4/5/42/7, having had 4/0 from 4, 5/4 from 5 and 6/12 from 7. Took a few hits as I tired, but came back and bowled the oppo keeper round his legs to finish the game off. Four of my wickets were clean bowled, one caught behind from a top spinner, one at gully from a regulation leggie and another leggie caught sweeping at short fine leg. Particular pleasure from my 6th wicket, because the guy had dismissed both me and my brother, and on dismissing my brother had run down the wicket with a few choice words directed at him (some of which rhymed with duck) so to bowl him through his legs as he tried to heave a wrong un was rather satisfying.

If your at home batting on that lovely track at Minehead, get your head down and score big
Batting on that wicket is worth the drive alone!
Looks like your 1sts need all the runs they can get!
And try and hold on to catches from my little lad when he's bowling please

thats ridiculous mate. its not like minehead have got many good players this season. cant be just your fault that they are struggling.

i know its not the same as ive been playing the saturday games when i can but i wasnt even picked for our midweek game initially and only played because some people dropped out obviously they dont care about the amount of work ive put in for the club been tempted to quit and go back to timby

i have had a crap season with the bat top score has been 24 i think so really wanted a confidence boast then i get out first ball of the innings

We're at Taunton CC which is probably the best club track in Somerset!

Haha, I did put one down off his bowling a couple weeks ago at 1st slip (was raining, wet ball ;) ) But taken a couple off him this year too so he wont complain!

That's also true, hopefully it will just be the one week!

Stick to it mate, it's good to see Dunster playing in the league on the new ground- and you can take a lot of credit for it after all the work you've put it over the years! Seems very strange you not being in the side initially, I myself and many others would definitely have you down as Dunster's best player- no question!

I hate cricket!

Got hit on the thigh (no thigh pad coz I'm 'ard) and then the bone on my wrist batting last night, and I've been a bit spazzy so far today.  :(
Moral of the story, use the big bit of wood in your hand to hit the ball, don't let it hit you!

Weather is excellent for Worcestershire to day we are at home to a promoted team  if we win and depending on other results could be top of our division by tonight don't know if we will get 11 players to turn out though.
