Took nearly an hour and half to get to the opposition's ground today so got there late and were put in after the skipper lost the toss.  Didn't feel right after rushing to get there, no warm up and then having to throw the pads on.  Ended up nicking off early on a green top unfortunately with the keeper spilling it then taking it on the 3rd chance  >:(

We got up to 193 and had them 40 odd for 8 and should have been at the bar by 6 but fair play to the two young lads who put on a big partnership to keep us out there longer than we thought.

Although I didn't get any with the bat I am really happy with my keeping yesterday taking 3 from 3 including their best batsman (heart was in my mouth when that one was coming through!)   :o

Played back in Kent yesterday for my old club. We batted first and opening the bowling for oppo was ex England bowler ED Giddens, certainly lost a bit of pace but managed to get it so go round corners, out on 50 odd before I got a Jaffa of about that left me bounced took the shoulder and held at slip, team managed 172 off 41 overs. A but below par

Then opening for oppo was Alex Wells ex Sussex captain and opening bat, he managed to slap one to cover early on, the we got another 3 wickets early until they built a partnership between other opener and 6 got the to 125. The the game turned with the quickest stumping that side of the M25 to dismiss number 6 and the rest of the crumpled quite easily to be all out for 152

My fielding is awful!
I went down for a long barrier that took an awkward bounce, into an area I really didn't want the ball to hit!
I now have a seam mark shaped bruise on my helmet...  :-[

On the bright side news of my 4-fer has spread and I've had a whole one text message saying well done. I'm in the big time now  ;)

So's mine but at least we both can use the long barrier and get something in the way. There were some epic demonstrations yesterday of teammates fielding the ball hit straight to them - not attacking it - with legs apart and hey presto the ball went straight through.  One for the village thread.

Played today, had a very young hungover side in which average age was 18, me being oldest at 21! We set 184, on a low slow pitch so was pleased with that, we then bowled them out for 154, I bagged myself 7-54 off 10 which I was dead chuffed with!

So I registered my first duck in 2 seasons to cap off the whitest season I have ever had, bowled 3 ball with one that came back a bit but I was just too late on it. Top score in sat or sun league cricket has been 27, I can honestly say I have hated the way I have played this year and for the first time in my life not enjoyed cricket this season. Time to go on holiday and forget about cricket for 3 weeks and maybe just maybe get half a decent knock when I get back weather dependent.

We also lost today lost the toss and fielded on a scorcher of a day in Suffolk, oppo batted well to 232 but our side shelled 4/5 chances including No3 first ball who went on to make 70odd and opener who made 82 was dropped in the 20's. We made a great start 70 odd for none off 10 but then lost 3 wickets quite quickly and that was that really, some of the middle order lads did well but batting today really had to be done by a couple of the top 5

Rubbish weekend apart from the result on Saturday. Won Saturday in the league but picked up a duck to a good delivery that turned and nicked to slip. By Sunday the track was too dry and we batted last. My first delivery shot along the floor and 7th popped off a length and I gloved to keeper. Bagged a pair for the weekend! Bowled OK both days but had two dropped catches Saturday and nearly half my runs conceded came in misfielding over the weekend. Sunday cricket can be terrible sometimes and didn't help. Why can't people do long barriers anymore or attack the ball? Bowled the last over of the innings and it only went for two, that was because the guy at deep cover (10 yards deeper than normal) didn't move and let them run 2! Watched millions of wides, head high full tosses -why cant people bowl at the stumps? The oppo certainly could! Thank god im playing a vets game next sunday and will be playing with proper cricketers again. Top it off arsenal lost. Wish I had slept through Sunday.

Played in an absolute corker of a match today in the picturesque grounds of Harewood House.

I chose to bat first (well someone else did on my phone as I was driving and we were late) and initially we struggled against their opening bowlers who clearly had local knowledge and bowled the ball in good areas. However once this pair had bowled through (max 8 overs per bowler, 40 overs per side), scoring was much easier. I was hoping we would post over 200 but had to make do with 185 and my contribution was 9 not out batting at No.11.

In reply the opposition made a good solid start but my bowling changes all seemed to bring wickets and we appeared to be cruising to victory. However batsmen 8 and 9 came in and from nowhere looked like they would take the home side to victory as they superbly worked ones and twos when they couldn't find the boundary. Fortunately I still had overs from arguably my 2 best bowlers so brought them back and one of them removed No.8 then No.10 while other kept it tight. I bowled the final over with 12 needed and after 2 runs off the first ball, the second delivery went straight to long off and was caught.

Decent weekend of cricket.

Good weekend of cricket, won by 100 runs on Saturday, we got 230 and they were 120ish all out so we got the full 20 Points.

Lost our first Sunday League game of season yesterday, we scored 167 and they knocked them off for 8. Good performance considering that we were very depleted and had 4 U15's and 2 over 60's playing.

Personally I scored 18 & 37 so not bad, bit disappointed I didn't turn one of them into a fifty though.

My match bat is unreal at the moment, nearly got caught out Saturday chipping the spinner down to long on for one as it only landed about 5 yards in front of the fielder.

Great two wins this weekend.
Saturday won by 8 wickets after bowling the oppo out for 119 of 37 overs. Personally taking a catch and 2-8 off 3, we then knocked the runs of within 19 overs one opener ending up 50 odd not out.
Sunday won with a couple of overs to spare after an early scare. Restricted the oppo to 220 at home which is a decent batting track and small ground, then after our openers went cheaply we was in a bit of trouble but our number 4 hit his first ever ton ending up 123* and a supporting role from 6 and 7 both getting 20s.

Best figures of the season: 11.4ovs 7-37 including their pro C&B for 4. Batted like a idiot, pulled a six over sq leg then was out to oppos pro 5 ball later with my score still on six. Their pro returned with 9-24(inc. 8 no balls) he had the remaining batsmen out but off a no ball. would have been his second 10 wicket haul of the season after previously picking up 10-10!

Quite easily in the end

Oppo batted first on a lovely deck , but only managed 150,,no way enough .
We knocked em off for a few wickets, including mine for 15 or so

Time for a new bat,,,a trip to Uzi sports I think

Surely Marcus has promised you all a new bat for winning the cup?  If not you need to renegotiate your contract with him!!
