Ah Carlos the Jackal!!  You know what that means?  Plenty of Heathrow winter nets!!!  There must be some around there somewhere!

@uknsaunders I too would love you to face my bowling. I shall do it with a GoPro taped to my head. Everyone would see me serve up an overs worth of filth before pinning you with a vicious inswinging yorker!! :)

Well done mate - hopefully if Asad does a event / net at his Birmingham store I may get chance to see "the magic" in action

Well @Ams4287  - if by 'magic' you mean facing a fat, bald, middle-aged man wheezing his way to the crease like a Hippo that's been savaged by a Cheetah - then you are indeed in for a treat!!!

This seasons tales of Splenda from Fattus have made me attempt to convert from right arm dodgyness to left arm filth.

I've mastered the arm bit of this. But the run up and footwork are non existent.

I have a HD Camera with slow mo and a tripod to do it. No need to go hitech. Given I'll be running down the wicket from the moment you bowl (not as if I don't know where it's going) , LBW will be out of the equation.

Sunday game done.

Us second vs top. We needed to win big to overtake them.

They won toss and batted spin friendly pitch so we used 4, and they snaffled he ten wickets for 101 runs. 36 overs bowled in 1 hr and 40 mins.

The chase started and we moved along slowly to ten before 2 wickets fell as hey introduced spin.

We got to 45 and the Third fell and I trotted in at five.

39 of 19 balls later, 7 fours and 1 six. And we'd won with 19 overs to spare.

Top with a game to go!!

Our 2nd team won the div 7 northants league and have been promoted. Played well throughout the season, had a bit of a dip in the middle due to our bowlers being unavailable or being promoted to the first team but all in all a great season for Oakley :D

Today goes down as my worst ever day as captain of our Sunday team, turned up to play a local rival team with my normal Sunday side which means a few hangovers and youngsters being converted to world of hangovers. We batted first and got 193-4 on a turning pitch, they then proceeded to chase it down in 15.5 overs due to the fact they opened with there Saturday 1's openers, who just launched it from ball one. Some of the best striking of a ball I have ever seen but an awful day for me as a captain as it was an embarrassment

Really good game of cricket today, we batted first on a slow lowish pitch had a poor start being 10 for 0 off 10 and then an opener had to retire hurt after smashing a ball into his ankle, pace started to build and I went in just after drinks in the 23 over with us 90-3 we managed to make 157-7 with me top scoring with 44 no which if excluding T20 cricket is my highest score in either sat or sun cricket this season. Smoked a huge 6 with what may well be my match bat next yea so thanks again to jake at vitas for another cracker of a bat.

They started well getting to 90 odd before losing first wicket last ball before drinks, that opener having scored about 10 of the 90 odd they had amased. We clawed our way back with good slow bowling and with 2 overs left they needed 15 runs, with us needing 2 wickets but number 8 smashed 14 off the penultimate over with a couple of good and lucky blows and we lost with 4 balls remaining.
Played brockly in Suffolk which was a lovely setting with a lovely church in background and ploughed farm fields around it hopefully get a game in on 19th so that I can hopefully get a sat or Sunday 50 before season finishes. Been my worst season ever runs wise

Played again today against a Sunday side mostly full of kids as two oppos had pulled out earlier this week. Won the toss and chose to bat. Scored 209 all out in 39 overs, yours truly ending on 8 not out, so kind of progress on 9 from last week? Should have been caught at leg slip quite easily and at mid on but hey ho. Played a shot over mid on for four, felt good.

Got to bowl two overs of absolute dog**** though, wide after wide going in the same place, just flying over. Skipper was encouraging and told me not to worry but I can't help but be annoyed with myself, even if it's 14 odd years or so since I last played. Partly it's a confidence thing and the other part is clearly my technique that needs working on. Should probably put this in the fitness and training thing but even though the season has ended if anyone maybe fancies netting at the Oval (I live right opposite it) or something from October let me know, I'm sure I could be offered a few tips or two along the way by all of you, haha.

We won the game, they finished 196 off their 40. Cool.

On a purely personal and show-off note, the final weeks scorecards aren't in yet, but I'm either leading wicket taker or runner up for our league, which seeing as I was yipping like a mad man for the last two years has brought me great pleasure, and rekindled my love for the game.

Well done mate. Afraid we ended up propping up the table - not sure if this means relegation or not at the moment. So we might still cross swords next season!  We had a nice consolation win at farnham yesterday, bowled them out for 86 in tricky conditions and got them for 4 down - if only we'd played like that the rest of the season!  I ground out 25 not out to anchor the innings but felt like i did a job for the team, even if it might have been horrible to watch.  Ended up averaging 26 in the 3s and 2nd highest aggregate in the side, fairly pleased with that in my first season at Kempton, but a bit disappointed I didn't grab my opportunities when promoted to the 2s.

That's not what Sunday cricket is about. :(

unfortunately some people adn teams take sunday cricket way too seriously. Our club did until this year, winning games, scoring 370 off 40 overs regularly etc. This year, we found teams refusing fixtures because they didn't want to get smashed and tbh, I don't blame them!  We as a club made an effort to play it more like a sunday game and regularly scored no more than 200 and everyones enjoyment both our team and oppos was better for it. Some of the 'big guns' batsmen didn't like it because it hurts  their stats adn ego's (I probably lost out on about 700+ runs for example) but it meant lesser players got a bat and it was more relaxed and enjoyable.

hopefully over the next years it'll continue.

We had a situation this season where we were struggling for numbers (holidays etc.) Opposition was a team we'd played last season and absolutely hammered us, and while they weren't unpleasant they weren't exactly sociable either, so we decided not to bother chasing around to raise a team and cancelled. To put it in perspective, there are teams who we would turn out one or two players short against and just enjoy the day.
