This is sad to hear. With it only happening this week, it seems pretty early to make a long term assessment of your eye. I hope it recovers well or I hope that you can find a way to continue playing the game.

You lost consciousness?? I bet that was pretty horrific for all concerned after the Phil Hughes incident... So I am glad you have come through that.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you buddy.

One of our lads got hit in the pre season nets and is only just now starting to play again. He has unfortunately suffered permanent damage. it is very sad news for the both of you. Just shows how easy it is and how people take the risks int eh game for granted... (umpires in evening T20's when it's dark for instance)

had something very similar at the start of the season myself, bowling and the batter middled one right into my eye. Knocked me out clean and ended up having a small fit but cant remember much :(luckily for me i only had double vision for a few weeks and a bad black eye. Couldn't really have hoped for a better outcome, hope everything gets better soon mate and would love to hear you get playing again

Awful news, fella.
It'll take time, but don't give up hope of crossing back over the boundary again.

Thanks for all the wonderful messages of support!
Great to hear some of the stories of guys still playing with the one eye.

Just a shame that it happened at a time where I was in really good form, was scoring runs for fun. 12 scores of 40+ in 13 knocks.

For some reason I've still got the urge to buy more bat's, wonder how I can justify that!  :D

I'm sorry to hear it buddy, good luck for the future. As a former seam bowler I was always wary of bouncing guys with no lid, my knees have long since packed up but I still worry when I see people go out without one whatever the bowling.

A guy at my club top edged one into his face a few years back and wore a helmet ever since, though last season he decided to stop wearing one as he thinks his eyes have gotten worse and he struggles to see the ball through the grille. I have reminded him that a wayward cricket ball could make them a lot worse but he doesn't seem too bothered. I will reiterate my stance on the weekend.

remember that David Fulton managed to play on three seasons after losing most all of the sight in one eye...
