Impala 2015
« on: July 28, 2015, 10:02:11 AM »

A very interesting top of the line release from Impala Sports for the 2015/16 Aussie summer. Not all of their range looks like this....just this one model from what I can tell. I must say, their bats look excellent this season; nice embossed stickers and very full profiles.

Holes drilled transversely across the blade? Are my eyes deceiving me? Presumably there is a reason other/ bigger manufacturers haven't done this.

Yes. It creates a weakness in the blade and if you took a great swing at a something and hit the ball low down on the bat, there's a very high possibility that the bat will simply break across the hole.

But the Hunts Turbo/Revolution doesn't as it comes down the blade?

plus the weight that you save from that is miniscule. This is a total gimmick,

Basically, yes. It's about the levers.

I don't think there's any evidence that these holes will weaken a significantly thick blade to the point it's likely to fracture Tim.

What about 2lb 10 picking up like 2lb 7, loves a gimmick. Wonder how long they will last this time.

Before reading any of the comments i honestly thought this was an attempt to make cricket bats more like golf clubs. With drivers you can adjust where the weight is so I assumed there would be inserts you push into the holes to maybe adjust the pick up etc.

Weird though
