M&H Ashes bat
« on: August 01, 2015, 09:22:56 AM »

hello all, hope you're all as dandy as ever.

As it's summer, The Ashes are in full flow and I had the week off work, a friend and I went down to Taunton to take advantage of Millichamp's 'Ashes bat' offer. They advertised bats of 2lb 6 to 2lb 9 with 40mm edges for as little as £250. This being £200 less than any other bat that was in the shop. The guy in the shop was very helpful and polite and brought out several blank bats that had been made up. After much wafting around and toying with a few I picked mine (which was the only one with stickers and grip) which weighed in at 2lb 7. They said they had to knock the bat in and oil it etc so I'd be getting it the following week, which was fine as I have finally got 'the' Purist back. If any of you know me, you'll know that's a massive deal.

So I get a phone call yesterday from my friend saying that his bat and my bat had arrived. I swing by after work to get it and look forward to getting to the nets.

After messing about with grips due to the very small handle I settled on 3 and used it in the nets. I still feel it needs to be played in but this thing goes from ball one. Defensive shots were travelling out of the nets at speed.

So as far as the bat goes;

40mm edges as promised
8/9 grains
Quite a lot of concaving
1/2 inch shorter blade
2lb 8oz

Apologies for the pictures I took them this morning and don't have much time to get all professional, you'll get the idea.

If anyone was thinking about getting a new bat then I can't say how good the service was down at M&H and their track record on quality speaks for itself.

Cheers.

For somebody so tall @Colesy - how does the shorter blade suit you??

When you bat you don't really notice, it's only marginal. Using it yesterday it certainly went well, shame I didn't get chance to use it longer.

Got to agree with comments above about these stickers being the best. Always loved the look of M&H bat with these stickers.
