Best bat for £150
« on: September 09, 2015, 05:05:31 PM »

Due to unfortunate circumstances regarding a ball and a bat, my 2'7 Newbery Kudos from IJC now has a split toe.
I still have 5+ games this season as well as a tour to Corfu so kinda need a bat.
I'd like another 2'7 bat for around £150 as a last minute purchase, any advice on who I should use?

Might be worth looking on Cricmart see what they've got at that price range, excellent customer service from the guys there

Go to ijc. Hand picked bats, you can't go wrong. If not vitas or red ink can do you a custom

We need to stop the recommendations on places like online stockist and cricmart.

There are sponsors on here for a reason. Decent retailers with a proper service if the bat breaks while in warranty. That is worth paying the extra pounds for

The H4l hattori for sale on here for £120 is what I would go for. May be slightly heavier than your last bat but if my 2 H4L's are to go by the extra weight is worth it.
I went from a 2.8 to a 2.12 and it has not made any difference to the way I feel at the crease or the way I bat.

Kyle,

As you know, we have a stunning looking Omega XRD500Light in at the minute, which weighs 2'7, and is of course hand picked by us. Alternatively, a Spartan MC4000, which is comfortably below your budget, at just 2'6.8! I feel that either of these would be an excellent choice. Be careful at this time of year that many shops who don't hand pick will just have old, poor quality, stock on the shelf, so we feel that this really is the time of the year that hand picking comes into it's own. Also don't forget about our 9.7% discount, making the prices even cheaper!

I think there is nothing wrong with recommending such shops. You can get good quality sticks at a cheaper price considering the dollar is quite weak compared to the pound.

I recommend it because I've had a very good customer experience from there, found their prices very good and the quality of the product I received has thus far been great

Obviously buying from overseas retailers carries a risk in terms of after purchase service and that's a calculated risk but if people do their due diligence in terms of research and are happy with the end result then why not recommend it

To the people above that have said there is nothing wrong with buying bats from the Asian alternatives you have mentioned I am not saying there isn't. If you wish to buy a bat from a source where returns and aftercare is non exisitant due to feasibility of their service then so be it.

What I am stating is that we have guys on here like @Vitas Cricket @Uzi Sports @ItsJustCricket @VKS @Aswani Cricket  and chaps like Red Ink, Blank Bats, H4L, B&S, Bulldog, Rob Pack. All of the mentioned support this forum and provide cricket equipment of the highest quality and the service to match within the UK to all around the world. Plus if anything was to go wrong they will be there to support you through the return process and liaison with the manufacturers.

The Asian suppliers have been known to offer substandard equipment as per the SF topics with nails in the handle. Sometimes only because the item is cheap and reasonable in price doesn't mean that it is the best option for you.

I just want to point out that I have no ill feelings to these providers but I feel that we all come to this forum to share our interests on all things cricket and we should support the retailers that offer all of us a great service and bring us exclusives and forum days out.
