Online stockist order taking ages...
« on: September 10, 2015, 05:52:58 AM »

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum, and I'm also typing it on my phone so apologies for any errors/if this thread is in the wrong place.

A few months ago all of my kit was stolen out of my car (including my 10 year old kookaburra beast graphite backed bat :'( ), no insurance etc etc, I've finally come to accept I won't be getting it back so I ordered a bundle kit from online stockists a few weeks ago (this was before I knew about this forum).

All the service has been great up until now, but after about a week of not being shipped I emailed to find out what was going on, and was told they were waiting on the manufacturer and the items would now be shipped tomorrow and all was okay. That was 3 days ago now. It still hasn't been shipped and the last 3 emails I've sent have yet to be replied too over the course of a few days.

Basically what I'm asking is, is this fairly standard procedure, or am I just unlucky? I realise I probably should have asked if they had everything in stock before ordering, but I suppose I just assumed they would if it was advertised on the site.

Im not even super worried about it taking longer than expected, but it'd be nice to be updated if things haven't gone to schedule, aka don't tell me it's fine and will be shipped tomorrow when it won't.

Am I being too impatient? Has this happened to anyone else? I've mostly seen pretty good reviews regarding them and have no complaints so far except for this issue. Obviously spending $1000nzd on new equipment, you want to know when it's going to arrive haha.

Anyways, cheers and hopefully will see more of me around the forum in future.

1000 NZD with OLS seems like a big order. Have come very close to ordering a couple of times but stories like these have put me off. I am sure they will come through in the end. But I think it's a 1 man show and the standard procedure when things are not ready is to not reply.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Hopefully the first of many bats :)
Regarding your question, this seems to be quite a recent reoccurring problem for Online stockist. However I ordered 2 bats from there and they got shipped quicker than most Uk retailers. I would say just a wait a few days for your kit and if they don't come in a few days it may be worth to email them again or ask for a refund. They'll probably respond then...

Update:

I just got an email saying that everything is now in stock and being delivered today which is good news I guess assuming it's the truth haha.

Funny that happened so soon after me posting.

And yes, it's a big order, bat, pads, gloves, helmet, bag, accessories.

Went for the SS gladiator, I've seen a few people on here have bought one from ols, they look really good.

All good in the end then mate (hopefully). You won't be disappointed with the ss gladiator. I had two of them, absolute weapons. Just make sure to oil them well, they come up a little dry.

I got myself some Salix bat wax, have never used bat wax before though, is that sufficient to fully oil a bat with, or is it more for the odd light oil now and then type deal?

I don't think he carries a lot of stock in general. He will have inventory of various bats at various times. If you order softs, I think he has to then order in. So I only order bats from him and I'll ask for a specific spec and make sure I see photos of the actual bat. I did this last week and received my bat a couple of days ago, knocked in and oiled.

Makes sense, I don't mind that it's been two weeks, it's aa decent amount of gear, I was just frustrated at the lack of communication/false promises.

Salix bat wax will be fine just follow the instructions. Its better than standard oil imo because it leaves a really nice shine on the bat rather than going dark brown.

The forma helmet, with titanium grill. It was part of the 'bundle'  not sure on how good they are but I guess I will see once I get it.

Have seen/heard that. Can't imagine it'd be a bad helmet, I'm sure it's just personal preference. Otherwise I'd probably get a masuri/Shrey. Also got the SS gladiator pads and ss limited edition gloves.

Ols doesn't have a shop. He doesn't hold stock, so sometimes will take him time to source the product.
