you might not even need the drainage around the square if your outfield is already good then i would be tempted not to.

i think you could defintely get away with 6 inches. my new square only had 4 inches as i didnt have enough money for 6 inches which was a real shame.

it might be worth trying to talk to the groundsman at the bristol county ground or simon lee at somerset. they could give some tips on construction of the wicket
