Bat handles
« on: September 12, 2015, 10:52:32 AM »

Hi all

I am in the process of looking at a new bat as per other thread I started. One of my requirements was a round handle as the H4L I bought and others I try with oval handles don't suit my grip, whilst the older Kahuna Warrior (circa 2005) I had was fine.

Well today I took a closer look at the warrior handle, removed the grips and it appears to be half round, half oval. With the bottom definitely not completely round. Forgive my ignorance but is a half round half oval handle an option? or was it back in 2005?!?

I find some bats I try sit nicely with my grip whilst others (all ovals I try do this) make the blade sit more open faced and I got a lot more inside edges on ones I tried.

Ultimately I need to go try some of the options I know but it appears I don't even know all the handle options at moment... :-[

Most  UK made bats come with an oval handle at the bottom some start round  at the top and gradually increase to oval.Asian made bats generally have round  skinner handles. Personally I am not a fan of having your hand forced of the bat by an oval handle as I like to give the ball a bottom handed thump. You can always make your handle more round using tape etc there are threads on here stating what to do. A Batmaker can make you any thickness of handle and shape  you require or can shape an existing bat handle to suit the user.

If you're happy with your current H4L's blade then just contact Matt about getting it re-handled with a round handle?

Did consider but mid to high middle and also SH, having used a LB towards latter half I am keen on one of them and a lower middle bat. H4L though was great, sold it on to teammate who has plundered some runs with it.

Looking at the Hattori as one of the options.

My handle has broken. I will send it to H4L to be replaced. Boo Hoo. Phenomenal bat though.
