Needs to be given time to get back to the form he had during 2005. And he got there with hard work and by staying fit, if they rush him and he gets injured he's gone for good so care needs to be taken.

Let him stay and play for Lanks. Leave him untill the Zimbabwe series (if we play them) then pick him for the Ashes if his form warrents it. It's not fair to drop someone if there playing well just because he's Freddie Flintoff.

been watching him at Lancs before the side strain and his bowling is just as good. Bags of pace and bounce, couple of the top order batsmen were backing away, and he hit a fair few lids! However his batting is poor, but i think put him into the England side for South Africa and take out collingwood, and his batting will slowely improve to the way it was, he's just out of nick!

Maybe Flintoff should be used primarily as a bowler.. ie. Collinwood should stay

He should come in as a bowler.. so it means dropping one of the performing youngsters!

Who should go? Broad, Anderson or Sidebottom even Monty? i think none of them personally. Fred needs to wait until the 2nd test to see whether these 3 can handle a top class batting lineup.

hmm i see where you are coming from, but he is easily our best bowler, so shouldn't be kept out by that trio! if he came in instead of collingwood, he would add the extra bowler, as collingwood rarely bowls with his shoulder injury, and with pault not getting runs he is just in the side as a fielder, which is a joke

Well i think he should come in for a bowler as Ambrose cant bat six, i just don't think he's suited to it. Also he might be bowling well but so is our current pace attack so wouldn't drop anyone yet.
