We really should have cloned Swann while we had the chance...

I think it was short sighted of England not to take a more active role in his career, particularly when Swann retired. I'm not saying Essex/Sussex did anything wrong and the issue seemed to be with him than the counties. However, even in his present situation I can't believe he would be worse than what we have out there at the moment. Could they not of had a look at him post season and brought him to the UAE as part of the support team, with a view to seeing how he shaped up if needed? Big call, but when you only have 1 world class spinner and you are heading to turning pitches you need to look after him.

couldn't agree more, been watching some of the lollipops we have been serving up it's just crying out for an accurate spinner. I reckon Patel is the best of the bunch so far!! that aint saying much really

is there a better spinner in England though?

I really worry that we just don't have anyone that is good enough as Rashid was the best wicket taker wasn't he?

im hopeful by the looks of mason Crane etc but will we get them in to give them a long run or do we need to just jack the spinner for now and have a part timer like root ala WI with Viv (Although our quicks are not as good)

They need to drag Swanny (or even Tuffers) out of the TMS box and get him to lecture all the spinners about landing the damn ball.

Absolute load of tosh so far. Embarrassing.

Ali seems to have lost the accuracy that has made him effective. And Rashid has been awful, leggies get away with bowling the odd long hop or full toss as they take wickets. But other than that 5-fer he's not been taking any, or tbh, even looking like it.

All this pitch needs is someone who can run up and plonk it on a length, Shoaib Malik ended up with a 4-fer for petes sake!

Tredwell should have been brought on this trip in my opinion, did pretty well against WI earlier this year, only went for 2 an over and got 5 in the test. Maybe not as threatening, but at least he can land the ball consistently enough to exert some pressure.

tredwell is a good pro youre right. and what we need is a good pro on these tracks.Look at the way the Pakistan spinners bowl, something happens if you land it on the spot most times.

We really really miss Swanny, I've said before the guy won us match after match and is sorely missed.

And good shout on Tuffers, I know his time has past but forget the comic image, he could bowl superb on his day.

the cupboard aint got much in it at the moment, on this trip Patel and Rashid look the best, bit hard to say thou as Patel has only played one match. I think Ali is going backwards which is a real shame
