Based on today I can see it being

Cook
Hales
Bell
Root
Taylor
Ali
Bairstow
Plunkett
Broad
Anderson

I would like Rashid in but I doubt they will as they will need the 4th seamer as I doubt stokes will be test match fit by SA

Surly Wood is in front of Plunkett? 90mph plus on SA decks is perfect for him

If Stokes is not available for SA Tests, I would be tempted to have the following:

Cook
Hales
Bell
Root
Taylor
Bairstow
Ali
Woakes/Plunkett
Wood
Broad
Anderson

Can't decide between Woakes or Plunkett!

Keep Rashid in,  he'll  get more bounce in SA, offer some variation and would be good for his long term development. I hope he doesn't get messed around by England .

If Stokes is not available, I would be sorely tempted to recall Tim Bresnan - had a great season for Yorkshire with both bat and ball and bowls the hard overs that are needed to protect Anderson and Wood.  Perhaps:

Cook
Hales
Bell
Root
Taylor
Bairstow
Bresnan
Rashid
Broad
Wood/Plunkett
Anderson

No one think Ballance deserves another shot?

@edge if Buttler plays elsewhere then I'd say Sam Billings as the back up keeper

2&3 batting slots will be up for grabs over the next 12 months, SA tour may bring about Bells retirement and I don't see Hales cutting it.

Can we please either sack off one day Ali or at the very least demote him back to his rightful place at 8

Next Summer probably, once Bell has gone.

Billings with his average of 28 in division 2 of the county championship this season  :o?

He's part of the set up already, so would be good to be around the team, plus I'm only picking him as a reserve keeper. It's unlikely he'll play.

Do love the way you offered an alterative though @Sam
