Heres another video... Think of it like a cricket helmet ;)
https://vimeo.com/144748990

This is a cycle helmet which is just about to launch, I've been working on this technology for 3 years now and we're just about to start a crowd-fund campaign on Indiegogo this coming Friday 13th November.

As you can see a cricket ball would just bounce off it no trouble at all.

This is a bit shameless but if you know anyone interested in cycling please get them to see this video and visit www.headkayse.com

This could genuinely be something massive !

No cricket helmet?

I think for a bicycle helmet, your test is not realistic. In case of a bicycle accident, your head would hit the ground hard at a much higher speed than a cricket mallet hit by hand. There will also be twisting of the the neck at Impact which your test does not replicate. Does not look very convincing. Sorry.

From the video, I got that this is merely to show its ability to take low speed hit and stop the brain rattling about, something, an esp liner does not do(as the video explains, not enough force for it to compress)

As far as I can see he has in no way claimed that hitting it with a hammer/bat is replicating a full on high speed accident.

With George designing and building military spec ballistic body armour, I'm sure he's done a lot more testing than a hammer tap before thinking. "Yes this is better I'll tell the world". Like all good product releases, show the info in bits and drabs to get the publics interest up. Don't release it in one hit and people forget about it a week later.
Build the hype.

Also are you claiming an esp bike helmet prevents the neck from twisting in an accident?  I've fell of my bike a fair few times, and I'm confident in saying it does not!

Hi Guys !

I understand comment on the cycle helmet as the video does only demonstrate low volume impact (did mention in the title). But it's had harsh testing at the department of transports primary facility in Manchester.

The official video is here

Preview of our crowd funding video (Indiegogo release next Friday 13th)
https://vimeo.com/144851951

This material has taken ages to get right, it performs to the high expectancy levels of sub-250G units of energy, an average hit around 160-180 which replicates EPS, but eps only works once and then it's broken, this performs again and again and its soft and flexible. Theres other videos on the vimeo page showing this but the one above covers it all.

If anyone wants to go into the technical data I would be delighted to get my "Geek" on but maybe on a different page ;)

Cheers !

Great video and product George, just had a look at the website now.  I'm doing a charity bike ride next year, very interested in one of these.  I'll sign up for more info I think...

Will CBF members be getting some sort of discount for the new cricket gear you guys are producing?

Also when can we expect more images of new gear, I ask because I really want a new thigh guard for next season :D

George, will you be able to do personalised branding on all the new gear you've designed just like you can do on your thigh pads?

The underlying message of the video is that the helmet is better than the conventional helmet, hence my question.

I don't buy this build-the-hype marketing. We live in a world of short-attention spans and twitter tweets. He has whetted the apeptite and now it's time to put the meal on the table.

Conventional bike helmets are seriously flawed in a whole range of ways, very believable that this could pass the same impact test standards no problem at all (partly because current test standards are very low!). Not having to throw away your lid after a crash is a huge selling point, and less painful head jolt on minor impact is also a big win, particularly in the extreme sports market. George if you can get it looking like a conventional BMX/skate style helmet you'll sell boatloads of these!
