Canadian willow Cricket bat
« on: November 12, 2015, 03:04:24 PM »

Fellow Cricketers, Its time i contribute some thing to this forum. I have been buying bats from the vendors of this forum for almost 2 years and i thought i would do a review of Indian made, Imported Willow or what the Vendor Onlinestockist says is canadian Willow. manufactured by DSC. The bat itself is very cheap only 52 GBP or 105 CAD, But the size of the willow is massive. This bat weighs 2 12 or ~1200 grams and it has 48 mm edges. The ping is better than any of my seasoned bats. I havent used it in a match yet so i can not answer the question of durability. For now, It will be a very good Net bat though.

Love the use of the battery to measure the edge size!!

Tushar - you need to get back to your search for Canadian Willow!!

@Buzz I did find some but the trees are in pretty bad shape, not a 100% sure if they the right genus but close enough, also the one's i found would/could have storm damage as these are really old trees that have gone through a few storms over the last few years.

Btw, DSC is the company manufacturing GM bats & clothing here in India. They do job work for a few other brands as well - something like F.C.Sondhi

I thought all of GMs bats were UK made? Or is this the really low end Sports Direct rubbish?

No no no.
The ones manufactured in India don't obviously have the made in England sticker on the edges & the originals, OLEs are named cosmic & Excalibur here. All Indian made a are F2 only.

From what I've read, GM are very open that some of their bats are made in India but they are made for the Indian market only. It would surely do more harm than good if ever the two were to mix.

I think about a year ago someone on the forum bought a bargain GM that was imported by someone in the UK. There were quality issues and sending it back was a problem.

They say on the stickers where they are made pal.
Not sure on the exact wording, but off the top of my head:
"english willow, hand crafted in england" 303 and up intended for the english market.
"Kashmir willow, crafted in India" Kashmir willow, obviously.
"English willow, made under licence in India" bats intended for the indian Market

Slightly off topic but saw this while browsing through the above link. Seems like someone got "inspired" by blank bats stickers http://onlinestockist.com/Handmade-Limited-Edition-English-Willow-Cricket-Bat-P2378829.aspx
