Josh Hazelwoods interesting Stats
« on: November 30, 2015, 11:04:11 AM »

Since making his debut he has taken more wickets that any other fast bowler in the game. 53 wickets from 12 tests which is 2 more than Broad from 13 tests and 5 more than Starc from 12 tests. He also has the best average of the 3 bowlers over this period.

Hazelwood - 24.16
Broad - 25.09
Starc - 26.31

More worried that Broad will go down as a "legend" of English cricket, thanks in no part to his occasional hot streak (8-15 this year bowled Aus out before lunch), take those out of his numbers and he's probably closer to 30 (29.75 by my calcs). Not convinced Hazelwood will keep it up against stronger teams in their backyard. However, he will improve as his test career progresses I'm sure.

2 test hat-tricks and an 8 fer nothing vs the Aussies, he almost deserves to get some recognition really. Shame he's a class A helmet really, he'd be a bit of a hero if people liked him!

P.S by the Gerry SA standard, 29.75 still puts Broad in the <30 world class category  ;)

I'm not sure I understand the Broad hating that goes on, I know he comes across as a bit of a (No Swearing Please) but so do Boycott/Botham/Willis etc. at times and they're all considered legends, surely his performances should be judged above his personality. Like @WalkingWicket37 said, surely 2 test hat tricks, 300+ test wickets at an average of under 30 isn't to be sniffed at in this day and age?

Ah, the boon of playing India early in your career.

This time last year, Moeen's bowling stats were amazing too.

He looks a good bowler, but time will tell if he can maintain those numbers.

16 of those wickets are against England at 25.75
12 against India at 29.00
13 against NZ at 31.00
12 against Windies at 8.00

You would think but not many of us like him. I think it's his Watson like abuse of the DRS system that possibly started it.

Surprised at the England numbers, didn't think he was that effective. NZ/India at home and Windies are rubbish. Once he's been to asia a few times and played SA we might be a more rounded picture.

That's fair enough, he's English and one of the premier seamers in the world, that's good enough for me haha :D
