I agree with what Warner said - technology/batmaking skills has improved over years which produces bigger bats but still feel light and that todays crickters are much more stronger and train/practice a lot more than previous generation. Controlling the bat size is like going back to using wooden rackets in tennis or wooden heavy hockey sticks of 70s-80s. All this has made the game being played at faster pace and exciting.
But the problem of unfair advantage batsmen have in cricket is as old as the game. Just the fact that a batsman can bring his own bat of different weights, sizes, handles etc and the bowler has to use the ball given to him just seems unfair.
For instance, the batsman can bring in a heavy bat if he needs 10 runs in last over but a bowler has to bowl with same ball the whole inning is rubbish.
Maybe one thing that can be done is bowler given an option to change the ball during the innings depending on game situation.
