Screaming Cat Fact or Fiction
« on: December 18, 2015, 09:52:18 PM »

Few of the guys I play cricket with went to Screaming Cat a few years ago to do the custom bat experience, and 1 of them has been more than once, and Julian was talking to him about density and to prove his point Julian dipped the toe of the bat in detergent and blew threw the handle and he blew a bubble out of the toe of the bat.... this is the first time I have heard of this but the guys all swear this actually happened before there eyes...

I know there will be some serious doubters out there but has anyone seen or heard of this being done?

Yeh the willow grains are like straws so run the length of the blade so in theory you can blow down one end and it comes out the other.

@The Doctor is prob you man for more details as wood isn't my specialist area of expertise.

Maybe down a bare cleft. But through the handle?

Surely the pva will prevent much if any air getting through into the cleft??

I can't see it working blowing down the handle, I've seen it via the shoulder of the bat

I genuinely thought that he meant his own toe (just got up) and he blew through his handle, and chuckled. Then I saw it was Senior, and was like, he's not normally one to crack jokes like that...

I'm just quoting what the guys who went to Julian to get bats made told me. I asked one of them again today at cricket and he confirmed it happened. I will asked the other guys after xmas when we start back up to see if they confirm it was through the handle

Perhaps that's why Julian had to retire - his lungs are f***ed from demonstrating it!
