Morrant Pads with leather straps vs velcro straps
« on: January 14, 2016, 04:38:57 PM »

Hi, the knowledgeable people of custombats.

I've been breaking my head of late on choosing a pair of Morrant pads and can't decide on which one to go with -leather straps (buckle type) type or the one with Velcro straps? I prefer the leather straps for two main reasons:

a. No excess strap length
b. Might be more secure in place than a Velcro strap.

But how tedious it might be to wear them every time and comfort levels are definitely a question mark. I'll be glad if you can help me out on deciding the pads. Any comments especially on the length of the Velcro straps would be great, since I have an Adidas elite pads which has enough strap length to roll the entire team's legs twice.

Also, would the leather straps pads be more bulkier than the one with velcro straps? Any weight difference / comparison / opinion is appreciated.

Thanks
Arun

Velcro, cut off excess burn ends to prevent fraying, lighter and easier to put on

Hi Arun

Which pads did you buy? I am also debating between leather straps and Velcro. Any info about leather straps experience is appreciated.
Thanks

Yep ....second the velcro . Ive 2 sets of morrants , both velcro . Anyone old enough ( like me ) who actually remembers wearing them way back in the 80s ( my first couple sets of pads were buckles , then when i was 12 i got a set of kooks with velcro....'omg , this so farkin amazing , where have you been my whole life'! ) will attest to how uncomfortable buckle straps can be , even painfully so . If you are worried about excess strap hanging over , just pinch the velcro together in the middle of your leg to make the strap smaller . Not sure , but I dare say the velcro are a tad lighter too.....and we must be weight conscious if we are paying big coin for morrants , no ?

Wanted some of these for awhile but worried about how easy they are to clean, can guarantee a muddy wicket early season to wreck them!
