I am using Mark Butcher as an example - he wanted to play for England, to have a long career and recognised that his technique wasn't up to it so he started from first principles of batting and changed.

A bit like Nick Faldo did.

Does it have to be Alan Butcher - clearly not - I use him as an example. Any individual has to find a coach that will work for them that they will trust and who has the right skills and ability to teach them to go that extra mile.

Hang on, Buzz - have you seen much of Ballance this winter? He's been on tour with a host of coaches, yet you seem confident he hasn't been working on his technique?

If he has changed, brilliant, he clearly has the latent talent to play international cricket successfully.

They should still be playing this game every season, worked a treat with Lumb/Kieswetter the only time it's been done lately. Possibles team should be made up of actual realistic possibles though - sorry Carberry/Davies fans.

Lyth/Bell-Drummond
Lees
Fell
Balllance
Buttler
Ansari
Foakes
Woakes
Rashid/Curran
Plunkett
Footit

Buttler at 5?? Test team right ?? About 7 places to high

Yeah! Although with the possibles have the better spinner and a rather dynamic and fast scoring batting line up, I think it'd be interesting to see

In my view there will be a very similar team to last summer (after all we did beat the Aussies at home and South Africa in their backyard) however I have thought of some possibles that I think could be in contention and should be considered at some point. It may seem biased as a Kent fan but I've also had a lot of opportunities to see these players play other than what we see on TV from the T20 Blast.

Probables:
1. Hales
2. Cook
3. Compton
4. Root
5.Bell
6. Stokes
7. Bairstow
8. Ali
9. Wood (if he's fit, replacement will probably be Finn)
10. Broad
11. Anderson

I don't actually mind that side tbh, I would question the long term future of the opening pair as well as Bell but overall not a bad side.

Possible additions:
Bell-Drummond
Northeast
Vince
Ballance
Lyth
Buttler
Coles (mainly ODI tbh)
Willey
Jordan
T and S Curran
Riley

There could be others but I would like to see them play a bit more myself before commenting on their chances of selection.

Willey can't even get in the Yorkshire 4 day side so, in the nicest possible way, I hope he isn't in contention for a Test call up

I would like to think Jake Ball would be in the possibles team rather than Sam Curran, I think Sam is too young still

Seriously? Was to young and haven't exactly done anything to warrent even being thought about as England test players.. Not just this but there are a lot of randoms being mentioned.. Willey?? Coles!! I know test cricket is poorer quality now but it's not that bad ! Wait, it is getting there with Jordan getting test caps :(

Sam Curran got a very rude awakening to Div 1 cricket against Notts.

I'm presuming Willey wasn't interested in the ipl due to wanting to get back to the mighty county and cement his place.

As he has yet to be selected in the first two games, I bet he's hoping for an injury call up like Jordan just got.

I'm sorry being the third highest wicket takes in div 1 and being on the EPP scheme over the winter being a random choice?
