Whiling away a rainy Saturday afternoon...
« on: February 20, 2016, 07:00:13 PM »

This morning I set about earning some brownie points - one vacuumed, washed and polished front room floor later, I was on the M4 in the evil rain to Uzi Sports to see Asad and his lovely wife.
When I got there it was busy as usual - some WEPL lads were in, as were another forum member (clutching a very nice-looking Kook Ghost - is there a better big brand offering this year?) and a young lad with his dad. So, I quietly got down to the business of looking at willow. Everyone who knows Asad's Swindon store knows how much time you can while away building a pile of your dream stash. Firstly, I love the Powerbow 5 shape and pickup, but they are a bit lairy. Still a lovely Players went in the hypothetical pile, along with a TON Legacy and one of the H4L Hellfire G2s (they are hyped a heck of a lot on here, but Asad's selection seem to warrant it). Great stuff.

I moved closer to where the WEPL bargaining was going on, and picked up an @Uzi Sports Black Mamba. "This is nice," I thought to myself, and carried on over to a bunch of newly arrived blanks in a box. Heaven. I also had my kit in the car - for gloves to test pickup with, so showed off my Red Ink X3 Custom - Asad seemed as impressed as I am with it. But, to quit my ramblings, about an hour later of being REALLY picky and multiple grip changes - all props to Asad for putting up with this... I left without buying anything.

No, hang on.

I couldn't do that - I would have to burn my CBF membership. I'd lose face among a bunch of people I've never met, and I wouldn't be able to honour my one out, one in bat-buying rule.

So these are some blurry post payment pics of the bat I left behind (boo) for knocking in. I'll see it in a few weeks once it's ready. Incredibly impressed with a lot of the bats, especially the Uzi ones, and the TONs. I also think that Kook have nailed it for 2016, if a big brand is for you.

Go and see Asad - his bats are awesome. He's always got some interesting bits to say, and will treat you well.

Oh, and something may have come home with me, after all.

I agree. Every now and again I forget my go and pick it in the flesh rule and lose time and money on stuff.

Today is another reminder of why it's so much better to do that.

My choice is 'only' an LE. Not entirely sure why.

In that box of new arrivals there were some astoundingly nice entry level Mambas. I was tempted to save a few £££s, but the one I got needed to be mine.

I would be that forum member, and am very happy with the ghost. I really thought you would be leaving with a h4l.

I'm just sad I only had limited time at the store, as I really could spend a day there.
