Ireland keep begging for Test status yet get embarrassed at the World T20 by two amateur sides...

If anyone deserves Test status it's Afghanistan not Ireland

Ireland are a bunch of bang average players. Most of them tried their luck with England ang flopped. No first class structure should automatically mean no Test status.

Afghanistan went from the lowest group of the continental cup to league 1 with 5 consecutive promotions. That's a side that shows its capable of playing a higher standard

And yet the same Afghanistan with its professional player system lost to the UAE in the Asia Cup Qualifiers

6 over game.. What a joke.

Afghan are probably the 'best' associate side currently but I feel for Ireland as they've probably begun the decline as their team peaked a few years ago. Still, there is a place for promotion and relegation in test cricket as zim, bang, wi are bang amateur too

Just look at bang avg burns/voges et all avg boosters recently as evidence

57-1 off 6 overs  with a couple of local lads carting it around, bit embarrassing.
Jordan going at 10's - no surprise that

Yet still beat NZ with Jordan in the side! Imagine that!

Interesting to see Root was wearing a shrey not his customary Masuri today. Bit of kit swapping going on or has he been shopping?

No Southee, Boult, or McClenaghan for NZ, going in with 3 spinners!

Potential to be a really turgid affair if teams are going to set themselves up like this.

Root probably sponsored by Shrey on the sub-continent. Always goes back to Masuri in England, SA and ANZ. Would be interested to know if that's a personal decision based on perceived protection levels on faster pitches.
