Nigh on 300 test wickets! I don't understand why Kallis isn't exalted as a legend, his stats more than back it up imo. Is it because he wasn't as "exciting" to watch as Botham et al?
Partly because he was bloody boring, yep. Batting I think he's well recognised, but he really didn't bowl that much and would never have got picked as a bowler alone. 290 wickets yes, but in almost 170 tests and only 5 fivefers. Imagine how many someone like Botham would have taken if he'd played that many!

By the way, hope you didn't think my use of "exciting" was sarcasm, Kallis was a bit boring! But he got results! You do make a fair point about number of games played, but surely that's part of the charm? He was good enough to play 160odd tests and hit a century in his last test, Botham's (although great and in my opinion the better all rounder) powers waned a bit before his 100th test and he didn't hit over 51 after '86 or more than 3 wickets after '87.

The Indian fielding is beyond awful.

It's a tad quiet in the ground.

Whilst this isn't necessarily an upset as Bangladesh are no mugs, I'm happy to let India take what was inevitably England's job of being humiliated.

Ha no, I don't think anyone would call him exciting! True, that many tests is a hell of a good stint for someone who bowls pace, but if he'd been a better bowler and so bowled more overs I don't think he'd have played nearly as many. Not sure what the most tests played by a front line seamer is but there aren't many who've played over a hundred and it's probably even lower for allrounders. Legend of the game for sure, but the great allrounder group will always be a tiny one. Stokes at present is the only player in the world who's even close, if he gets the consistency he'll go down as at least an English great I think.

Excellent. India are losing. Hopefully if they go out then we'll hear a lot less rubbish talked about how wonderful the IPL is!

The disparity of pitches between India games, and non-india games is shocking. Fair to say we know what the "I" in ICC stands for!

Also...this has backfired. I think making slow turners has actually hurt India, as most teams (minus Pakistan) have spinners good enough to exploit those conditions - the bcci has basically been neutralizing india's own batting power.
