Youtube Cricket Masterclass
« on: March 06, 2016, 10:10:32 AM »

I learnt most of my cricket basics from youtube as I was very late taking up the great sport! (Probably my greatest regret was not being interested when I was growing up!!)
So I thought it would be good to start a topic with interesting links to youtube videos that may help with techniques.

Obviously Buzz does some excellent topics with his tutorials and videos.
But would also like to post links that I have found useful and others may find good to watch?

The first is Bob Woolmer who was a brilliant coach!
This link is 1 of 8 and 2/8, 3/8 etc should follow in the next videos. If not just do search for the next part:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktyP9QwCgFw

The next was where I learnt the basics for bowling. Too old to bend my back too much so decided on spin:
For this I would jut search on "cloverdale cricket masterclass" as there are several - all recommended!

The next is who I consider the best spinner ever:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyHX7GsrMlo

And lastly once learning the basics there are interesting videos to watch where a class batsman helps explain the mind set behind playing! Obviously there are lots of decent AV vedeos and even found a decent masterclass from the class of Sachin and Lara. But this one I found interesting:

There are a few that some may hopefully find interesting and possibly helpful?
Feel free to post some more interesting and useful videos.........

I watched this AB de Villiers video recently about his "box" theory, I think it's helped my batting in the nets.

That was a great video - really entertaining and always fun to count the number of times he says "box"!  :D

Thanks for sharing.

My cricket coach has some fantastic videos on YouTube too.

Here's one of them

Bat a bit. Bowl a bit. Not too bad at point either!

A few years ago I discovered a pack of MCC masterclass VHS tapes my Grandad had given me back in the early 90's, so lacking a VHS player I took it down to my local video shop, got them to put it onto DVD for me and then edited out the leg spin masterclass and uploaded it to youtube as I thought it was a good find and wanted to share it with people. I finally got my (No Swearing Please) in gear today and just uploaded the rest of one of the tapes. I'll rip the other one tomorrow and upload that as well but for now on this one we have Fast Bowling with Dennis Lillee, Leg spin with Ritchie Benaud, Off Spin with Ray Illingworth, Left Arm Orthodox with Bishan Bedi, Wicket Keeping with Alan Knott, Fielding with Jonty Rhodes and I think slips catching with viv richards. They're pretty long so enjoy! Its old stuff but they're still relevant. Just to give you a taste of whats to come, on the other tape there is Batting with Geoff Boycott, Viv Richards and David Gower (that one is hilarious as he just smacks some poor MCC groundstaff member around), Captaincy with Mike Brearley and a few other things. I'll have to take a proper look tomorrow at that disc to remember whats on it.

Not extolling @Buzz rather being brutally honest. He has helped me greatly, I found him to be MOST effective for me than anything else. I believe that was solely due to the fact he understood me, what could be my strength and just told me to enhance them with a strong foundation being laid. Players would suggest what work best for hem but @Busz suggested me what worked best for me. That was the reason why I believe he was most helpful.
