Bat right, bowl/everything in lift with my left. Glad to see I'm doing it right, to an extent....

I've often thought that this made a lot of sense. Good to see it in the press! I think we need a CBF "back to front" net where everyone goes in and bats not their standard way... That could be a lot of fun...

Does a dodgy switch hit count as "back to front"?
If so I attempt to play maybe 1 in every 15 balls like that in the nets...  ;)

Does this give an excuse to go out and buy a load of left handed bats?

I actually had a left handed Kookaburra once.
When I say left handed, the only shots that I middled were reverse sweeps and switch hits. Maybe it was a sign...

I am very weird like that I bat right hand throw with right arm, I play racket sports with left. I can only eat with left hand with spoon and guess what I can bowl with both right and left (orthodox off spin with left and leg spin with right)  :D B)

One of our players (right handed) was taught to bat by his older left handed brother. He taught him to bat left handed and that is all he has known. He regularly hits 50's and doesn't seem to be at any disadvantage.
However, My dad is left handed, bowled and threw left handed but batted right handed. He was a rubbish batsman though.
Having recently been diagnosed with arthritis in my left knee I was considering batting left handed. After reading this I may give it a serious go. Will need new pads and gloves though. That's a shame.

I taught myself to bat left handed as a teenager as a handicap with my mates, was OK but no where near as good as batting normally.

Think you need to be taught right from the outset, none of us knew how to hold a bat once and we shown how to by a coach looking a text book. If you get told to pick it up anyway round, that's all your going to know and will feel natural

Is that because you've engrained the movement patterns for batting RH. What made you learn golf LH?

Had I not played hockey at school it would probably bat left-handed but seeing as you can't buy a left-handed hockey stick I had to learn to play right handed. Started playing cricket after I played hockey so that's where I think it has come from

Mike Hussey switched to LH as a kid to replicate his hero, Allan Border...

That definitely doesn't sound in any way weird to me. It sounds almost entirely normal...

I bowl left handed
Bat right handed
Throw with the right
Write with my left

Bit screwed up really. I draw a slightly different distinction :-

My left is more flexible and agile
My right is stronger but less flexible

I have tried batting left handed and my top hand movements become very rigid and I end up with no power from my bottom hand.  To sum up,  I don't think it's just about strength or dominance,  as much to do with how both hands work together.

I bat right handed, bowl and throw left handed.

Does your foot dominance come into it? I'm Left Handed/Right Footed

Right - ebay visited. Cheap left hand kit bought. Time to hit the nets and try this out.

Interestingly, I noticed 15 years ago when playing squash that my low back hand shot (which is a lot like a left handed front foot drive) was about the most powerful weapon I could unleash on a squash court (fnar, fnar). It set me thinking then that perhaps batting left handed would be a much better approach for me.

Of course, I might just be as crap left handed as I am right handed...
