Me batting again + the sound of a broken bat.
« on: March 28, 2016, 06:44:25 PM »

So the first few clips are of my newly refurbed GN Oblivion which no has a nasty shoulder crack! Not looked at it too much yet but suspicions are that the new handle mat have caused a problem because that seems to have a problem in itself aswell!

The rest of the videos are me using the scoop, thanks to Chris for selling me this otherwise i would have had an woeful session otherwise!

Yep working buddy.

I'm no batting coach so feel free to ignore, not sure if that trigger movement works for you tho mate, you don't seem to be in a solid base when playing the ball

Not today it didn't know, but i can't bat without one... it was still a bit moist and skiddy, plus was getting throw downs which throws me off completely.

Just out of interest, when you watch that back and, for example compare it to a pro, what are the first thoughts that come to mind?

How would you critique your own batting?

Is it possible that the two things (i can't bat without a trigger and throw downs throw me off completely?) are correlated

As a tip look at how your back foot moves for a short ball and the position your front foot finishes in after your trigger.

Who was bowling? Throwing?

And what was he/she bowling/ throwing?

It seemed very slow, yet teidicolously bouncey, and about as useful to practice against as my niece with a balloon.

P!ss poor but better than some

I have noticed my front foot and I have batted better with bowlers using a run up. Also my back foot doesnt come across any further and ive always struggled with the short ball, but it will be something I will work on when i get a few first team bowlers bowling at me.

Trigger movement is the thing that will let you down when the bowling's quicker mate. When you're stable your technique is fine but as you move across your head goes towards the offside which results in your front foot getting stuck when the balls on middle and leg/leg stump. As long as you make sure you keep your head in line with that trigger you'll be fine, but if it's anything like when I tried to trigger when I was 16, my head just kept on going leaving me massively unbalanced.

Just something to think about, it may help in the future.

Ditching the trigger and standing still aligned better will transform your batting.

And no you don't need a trigger that is all in your head.
You will get hurt against quick bowling with the position you are in at the moment.
.sorry to be blunt.

I'll give it a go at nets on Sunday! I shall refer back just before I start so it's fresh in my mind...

Apart from making the movement first with my head leading, is there anything else you can suggest for this transformation?

Don't worry about being blunt @Buzz as much as it's knocked my confidence, I do want to become better and jump up the order. Obviously this isnt going to happen in a couple of weeks (Apart from a sunday as i'm captain)!
