Quiet couple of weeks personally. Draw away to Binfield, caught behind for 6, followed by 14/3/30/2 on a wet wicket, so quite happy but we missed about 7/8 catches again. Beat Littlewick Green last weekend by 60ish, got caught mid wicket for just 5 after batting for a good few overs and having cover driven my first ball for four. Took a steepler whilst I had large amounts of grit in my eyes so could hardly see so got lucky, and in my 11 overs only got one wicket.
Littlewick was my first spell after doing some work with @edynamo on my bowling, and making a few adjustments to my delivery stride and wind up, so although I felt that my spell was inconsistent, I was getting the ball to zip, drift and turn sharply.
Kept for Presidents day last Sunday, and was part of the first Chairman's team to lose to the President's team since 2008. No byes and a catch in our weird 12 over, 7 a side, two 6 over innings game. Batted awfully, and my B3 broke on the inside edge. Just wrapped it up to send off to see what can be done about it as it is only a few weeks old, and a trip to Romida to get an Icon. First two days off since last August, and start a new job Monday, so I may pop to Peterborough tomorrow as well!

One of the "advantages" of playing for a team that's bottom of the division (actually entire league) is that other sides will do anything humanly possible to get matches on. Apart from the first week of the season (which has been rescheduled for additional Saturday at end of season anyhow), I am trying to think of a Saturday that has been completely washed out.

I was speaking to a mate of mine who works for the ecb as an analyst, if you can get in the oppo's head then your already 1-0 up. Look at how effective it is for Conor McGregor in the UFC, he talks the talk and backs it up. If your gonna play a game that revolves around your mental ability, then be prepared to have them try get in your head, just prove your a better player by not biting

Although correct ( this is what we are taught  on  coaching psychology courses) we also have to remember most are not professionals  we are  handing over our hard earned to play

No point playing though if you're not trying to win, may as well just have a net a few times a week.

Fully agree with this @skip1973 we have got third in the league today, we are fourth bottom. Want the game on though cos we came so close to beating them at their place! Not worth turning up to go through the motions, I want to win every game I play

Agree most of the time in our ln our league there's always the draw which gets you points no point in chasing 350 plus and losing the match giving the opposite maximum match points.

Surely you need to set out to try and win first then go defensive?

No better win than one against adversity.

I'm more confident playing away from home ATM mate!! After the rocket I gave our lads on sat I hope they listened.

If anyone at our club gave our players a rocket they  would  be ignored and wouldn't be around long there's a system in place  to deal with perceived problems.

Yes if you have the players with the skill to do it but most weeks  this season the club have had a maximum of 9 players but still managed 10 wins the biggest scoring 334 batting second.

We are off today so missed out on winning our division as it was a first vs second for title match. Can't go up as our thirds are in div above and rain has stopped them going up. Upside is our fifths and seconds are both up as in promotion positions

So yesterday I wasn't playing but went along to umpire for us, as the only umpire I did both ends which was good in as I admit I'm not the best or particularly like umpiring but enjoyed it yesterday, now to the cricket,

We turned up at the ground early (away) yet when we got the it was throwing it down and the covers were still on, so by league rules we had to start by 15:50, this didn't happen as the oppo kicked up a fuss as they needed a win to go above us and gain promotion in 2nd and we needed up starting at 16:20 in a reduced game to 25 overs per side! We were inserted on a pitch that was cut at 15:30 and set them 117 to win from there 25 with @19reading87 leading from the front hitting 37* from number 5!

Chasing this they got off to a steady start being 26-0 off 7 and then a great run out from cover got our first wicket, it wasn't until 3 overs later the magic really happened, out first change bowler got they're gun batsmen out caught behind, then next ball got the number 4 out first ball lbw hit plumb in front, next ball dot and then @Maverick79 (Chris) took a good catch at cover to leave Huss with 3 wickets in 4 balls! The side was going mental! Anyway Huss ended with a 6for and the game was won in be last over bowled by @uknsaunders who bowled 5 balls for 3 runs and had a run out off the over! Was great to watch the boys out in such a teams and hard fought win to seal our promotion and a massive congrats to redders who led the team magnificently this season and deserves all the credit for getting us here!

Personally it has been a great first season at ashorne and I'm really looking forward to another massive season next summer!

My contribution was doing nothing for 6 hours and then getting asked to bowl the last over of the game with the oppo needing 13 to win. Thanks for coming lol.

Game was a farce really. They broke league rules again and the game should never of been played.  Pitch was barely fit and but for a league umpire turning up and saying it was ok we would of not played. They were desperate to play to get promotion so it was nice to turn the tables on them.
