Outfield's been entirely re-something or other-ed since the end of the football season so hoping a cut, presumably today, will reveal a lovely smooth surface for us. Very much feeling like the groundwork may have been left a bit late!

Back in the team tomorrow due to players dropping out after being dropped at this weeks selection meeting by the chairman of selectors for slow scoring against the opposition opening bowlers.
As I see it i am between the proverbal rock and hard place hang around at the crease and score without risk and get left out next week or try to score quick runs get out cheaply and left out next week what a dilemma for any batsman.
Ho and I've already requested my 2016 annual subs back

My B3 Pepsi got it's first run out in a T20 Wednesday night, first bat of the season for me. Batting at 6, came in with a few overs left and managed 18* of 14 balls with 2 huge sixes, didn't feel great at the crease due to lack of practice but jesus does that bat have a middle!!

Play your own game, and if that's not good enough for them, then it's best to look elsewhere.

Of course you should play your own game but don't be too rigid in your approach. The game is changing and be flexible to this change. it's an opportunity to develop

does your team count ball in the score book? if they do you can use that as evidence against you perceived "slow scoring"

ask yourself this - are you effectively taking singles? are you catching up? being solid and getting in is great but you have to catch up later.

we've had people score 50 off 120 balls in a 50 over match (300 balls) which mean you have to have others pushing later on. which is fine if that is the way the team is going to play. Roles are key here and that you are suited to role to contribute to the team goal.

selection, who thinks who is any good, and what value you are to the team is so subjective I've stopped worrying about it.You have got to play your own game.Gawd knows I tried last season, the runs dried up,got dropped down the order after facing the new ball for years,and eventually out of the team.....

this year I've played one league game,we won,i got a score and the new second team captain is making sure im ok for Saturday. I was never as bad as others thought last year, i'm not as good as some think I am now, i'm pretty much the same....

So.......nicking quick singles is one area I looked to improve on to keep it moving and play naturally. Really whatever anyone else thinks you can only play as you do. On seaming wickets if your still out in the middle that's still doing a job for the middle order...and the team.

Yes that's what happened captain took the scorebook to selection didn't tell them he told me to protect the kids from the opposition openers or that it was my suggestion to push on after 18 overs. As for taking singles it was a very small ground singles were hard to come by. But what was most disappointing was players who had not paid any subs and refuse to pay any were selected.

Turned up Tuesday and found out I was captain when the teamsheet was handed to me. I have no captaincy experience and I am an unexperienced cricketer myself who has only played the game for a year and a half.

Had no clue what I was doing, but first 10 overs when we were bowling went well, but then the opposition finished on 154-4 in 20 overs after we lost our way due to misfields and dropped catches.
I finished on 0-17 in 3 overs.

Batting started off as a disaster, we were at 26-6 at one point, I came out to bat when we needed 20 runs to win in 9 balls. I came in at number 9 and scored 6, got out trying to hit big.

Lost the game by 13 runs in the end.

Ah...that game had it all

2nd league game of the season today and a comfortable win. Batted first and opened up was going nicely on 15 when decided to leave one but pulled bat away to late and got a inside edge I to my stumps. Run rate slowed a little with some tight bowling and a slow outfield and were 100-3 with 13 overs lost 2 wickets in an over and out skipper promoted himself with his new Spartan kit and hammered 67 off 21 balls to get us to 184/7

Then we bless then away for 78 with our opening bowler bowling one of the quickest spells iv ever kept too, rapid even at 20 yards back taking hear high, took 3 catches behind the stumps. Hopefully we get out of the lower leagues this year, team lost out due to weather on promo last year. 40pts from 2 games so going well

On a positive for me enjoying cricket this season so far and batting well although have t made a big score yet over 100 runs now across 3 games ( 2 sat and a Sunday)

There was some controversy re a no ball decision when I was batting the ball past me above the waist dip and then hit the stumps. The square leg umpire call it first as a no ball and the umpire at the bowlers end followed by giving me out stating when the ball went past me it was not above the waist. The opposition argued that the umpire at the bowlers end was the decision maker not the one at square leg.
I thought either umpire could call no ball and it's the first umpiring decision that counts.
I didn't walk as I had heard the no ball call but does anyone know if i was out or not.

So so bad
Batted first, 106 all out
4 ducks in the team, including myself. Not great.
Oppo chased in 26 overs out something like that, 2 down
I bowled 3 overs. The first one a maiden, the second went for just a wide, the third went for 12

Not a good game at all, for me or the team

Complete farce today. Played Farnham 3XI, who only had 7 men - at least 5 of which were 4XI cricketers.

We bowled them out of for 31 in 12.5 overs and chased it down in 10 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. We were off the pitch by 2.30pm

That is simply not league cricket. Roughly 7 of our guys had no kind of game and it was certainly no fun for their guys, we left before tea even arrived.

I feel for their skipper - felt rather a hollow victory.

Had s rough day at the office.
We batted first scoring 223, which was a par score on the pitch, I managed to get my first runs of the season which means I broke the duck voodoo, managed to get 2 off the last ball of the innings.
We then proceeded to get well and truly bent over and ruined! They chased it down for the loss of no wickets in 42 overs, I bowled 7 overs, 0-26 I think. Pleased with how the ball is coming out at the moment but never like losing

Out on loan today as we had too many players. We scored 240/7 in 45. They got 180/7. Your truly was 141*. Pleased.

Bowled oppo out for 133 and somehow won the game as you'll see from the scorecard. Bare in mind we have batted twice this year and not made more than 50!

Thankfully I picked up a wicket and finished not out.

Not sure how we won, oppo not sure how they lost!!
