Yesterday was a bit special for me, I got my maiden 50!
I'm a bowler but trying to improve my batting, and my previous high score was 36. I have been batting at No 9 for the firsts, and so far this season in 5 games I have only been called on to bat 3 times, including one forgettable short innings, and 2 not outs blocking out the final overs for us to get a draw. Total runs 7.
Today I played for the 2nds as I'm carrying a bit of a hamstring injury. Skipper put me down as No 6 so figured I would get a bat, but didn't expect to be going in at 4 for 24 in the 8th over!
Their openers were still bowling and it took me 16 balls to get off the mark - I was just focusing on not getting out. But then I got into my stride and started playing some decent shots.
I reached my maiden fifty 38 balls later!I managed to get to
90 (riding my luck a bit on the way) and I really should have got a ton, but it was ridiculously hot and I lost a bit of focus, missing an inswinging Yorker from their opener who had come back on. The skipper and I put on a partnership of over 150 (he got 73), and we ended up with 212 all out from 43.
Unfortunately we didn't get the win. They managed to last out their overs scoring 164 for 8 wickets. I bowled 14 overs in 3 spells ending with 1 for 16.
So massively pleased with myself for getting my maiden 50 and going on to get a decent score, but bit annoyed I didn't convert it to a maiden ton, and that we didn't manage to win.
At last I have provided justification for spending so much money on kit and having way too many bats for a bowler, think I prefer allrounder now
By the way I was using my Aldred Spectre and it was great.
