Our game on Saturday was marred by a disgusting act of gamesmanship from the opposition. We were on the verge of victory, having them 9 down with about 8 overs left, when the opposition captain marched out to announce to our captain that the game was finished as it was 7.20. A big argument ensued and eventually we played on in a sombre atmosphere having sent him away to show us in the playing regs where it said this. Strangely enough he never returned and thankfully we finished them off. Checking afterwards, I found the time clause only applies if the minimum number of overs has been bowled, as an incentive to speed up over rates, so he was blatantly trying to con our skipper.
Still, poetic justice in the end, and I took a worldie in the gully to get rid of their best bat
