Nice TFC today, Oppos were dire so wasn't worth batting just for stats sake. Few lads got a bat who wouldn't normally bat amd they rolled over for 50, we brought kids on when they were six down for nothing much but they kept getting the, selves out annoyingly so we couldn't make a game of it. Sad really for a Sunday (im sure many a team would just rack up runs and skittle a side but 22 blokes want a game so we did try and give them one

Scored 87 on Saturday. Was a friendly game but still happy as its my highest score. I've recently been converted to opening for our 1st xi and it's going okay so far. Only got 13 in my first game opening but we put on 40 for the first wicket which I'm sad to say was by far our highest opening partnership of the season. Then last week opening I got 32, we were all out for 64. Was pretty shocking performance. Then this week 87. So I'm quite happy with how things are going. Weirdly I find opening easier than batting middle order. I think it's because I now I feel like I have a role in the team where as up to then I could be batting anywhere from 3 to 6 depending on how the skipper was feeling that day. We got 4 more league games this season and still looking for our first win of the season but I'm feeling more optimistic now I'm more confident about my own game.

I prefer opening as it gives you time to dictate the way the innings is going to go. Middle order can frequently be come in with a huge amount of pressure on as you've lost some silly early wickets, or we've got 10 overs and 6 wickets left, have a smash. Arguably, I prefer middle order when the opening bowler produces some jaffas - one which you'd be fairly proud to have snicked to first slip... outswinger, pitched middle-off and swung away to take the edge. Long day in the field to score all of 4 runs. Cruel game!

Good win over bottom of the league Saturday. Vc was running the show, batted the whole 48 overs for 106* and our number 5 got a rapid 60* as we declared 3 down for 245. Took the old ball on a spinning deck, and our catching again was interesting. Their top bat got dropped first ball of the chase, and I missed one running in from long off from one of our off spinners. We had a 4 man spin attack, 2 leg and 2 off so didn't take the new nut until nearly 40 overs were gone. I had a 12 over spell, took 2 wickets in my first seven balls, one caught long on, the other a long hop that should have been hit to Amersham, but the bat conspired to nick it into his hip and @Joshthesmall took him at short leg. Don't know my exact figures, but I had another chance just after id turned down a gully when a ball ragged past the oppos top scorer and took an edge through gully. Took a diving catch to win the game, margin over 100 in the end.

6 wicket loss on Sunday for Frogs vs Knebworth Park. Batted 3, and unusually wasn't flashing at much. Got bowled for 18 when well set, had just been bounced by oppos overseas and then went too hard at the other bowler. In the field ran out the guy who bowled me with a throw from the longest boundary, then took a caught and bowled and got a guy out bowled who'd just put me over the sight screen on a hospital pass end with a small straight boundary.

Only real downside to the weekend is a broken nearly new bat :(

As predicted we only had 9 men this weekend and duly chased the ball for 45 overs as they reached 328 for not many. Topped of by 2 drops of my own bowling to rub some salt in to the wounds.
Opened the batting after opening the bowling earlier, got of to a decent start but lost regular wickets and while falling short on 180 we batted out the overs. Very frustrating day of cricket with the only saving grace being the funny comments being made amongst ourselves!

Played Norton, can't help but think with 2 extra players or the 3 bowlers we were missing things could have been different...

Raining in wors? Not in glos.. Wish it would, we've decided to take half a team today so it's a save the ashes day when batting. Unless they collapse, we'll just be batting out the overs

Bright sunshine, long(ish) drive with a depleted team to play 3rd in the league (we're 4th from bottom). Fancy sending the rain down south please?

Spot of rain early and sunny since in Bristol, doesn't look like much chance of rain! Fingers crossed anyway. Playing a team I haven't played against before who all our lads fully hate from last season, so not expecting a well-tempered game unfortunately. Away fixture we won by two wickets chasing 65, hope it's a better game than that...

Re. sledging, there's always people about who think it's clever regardless of the level - my gf played for her club men's 4s a couple of weeks ago and apparently got some sledging while batting! To put this in perspective, it was div 14, this is her first season of cricket so she's hardly likely to take a men's game by storm and they were all out for 89 chasing 230ish. Clearly some people just can't make it through a Saturday without blurting some abuse out, bizarre.
