Best all rounder's shoes
« on: April 12, 2016, 02:53:06 PM »

Hello all

I've been using Puma's shoes for the last two years, but now wondering if there was anything out there on the market that's light and good for me to bat in, bowl and field in?

Thanks

Adidas are great but if you don't like the colours asics are equal

I would say the new balance ones, if you can get the right size.
I currently have new balance, Nike and asics spikes and spiked trainers for reference

Have been Using Asics for 3 years now, But after trying Adidas this year, they are lighter than the Asics I was using. So would say Adidas as of now.

I use Asic's for fielding and bowling as often get a lot of problems with my heels and these are the only boots that seem to stop it. I then use Adidas to bat in.

I did the switch from Asics to New Balance about two seasons ago.
Considering I'm an amateur cricketer, i struggled to justify $150 - $200 on a set of cricket shoes.

I've found the build quality to be just as good for a cheaper price.

I use two different sets of shoes, NB 4030 for batting (but these are designed as an all rounders shoe so can handle reasonable amounts of medium pace bowling) and the NB4040 for fielding/bowling (i have a bit of a problem with my ankles so like the extra support and stability).

Over the last few years I've used Asics Gel Advances, Puma Evo Speeds, Nike Lunar Dominates and Adidas Vectors.

I'm a medium pace bowling all rounder and have found the Adidas to be the best for what I do.

I found the Asics and Puma very light but not very supportive and only having 2 spikes on the heel meant I did slip a bit more than I should. These are aimed as batting/fielding shoes really so not a negative of the shoe but more what I was using it for and still good as a point of view.
The Nikes I liked but found quite bulky and weighed more. I bought them having loved the Lunarlon in my Nike running shoes but it didn't make any difference to me in the cricket shoe.

The best all round shoe for weight, support and stability has been the Vectors for me. Highly recommend them, they're very comfy and supportive and are surprisingly light.

Freddie Flintoff does a range of footwear for Jacamo and he was a pretty good all rounder.

I would recommend Adidas, I've used their 'batting' and newer 'all rounder' spikes over the past 4 seasons and will be continuing with the this season too.

I used the original SL22 half spikes which were very comfortable but I would of preferred a full spike configuration.

I had two pairs of SL22 fsII's which were very comfortable and durable as well. I found they were very light when wearing them too.

I'm currently using the Adipower Vectors and they offer fantastic support when bowling for both seamers and spinners. They are also very nice to bat in. They are used by many international players including James Anderson, Tim Southee, KP and Dwayne Bravo.

If you are a bit taller and want a bit more support when bowling then the Adipower Vector Mid maybe an option. They are worn by the likes of Stuart Broad and David Willey

Asics 100%, hugely superior shoes to Adidas. Haven't tried NB spikes personally but I've been impressed with the running trainers of theirs I've had and mates say nice things about the spikes, so also worth a look.

I've been using Asics for a number of years.  Firstly the 100 not outs (I think they were called this) but I found them as heavy as most boots on the market, and then the gel advance's.  Since using the advance's I haven't looked at anything else.  I use them for bowling / fielding and batting (when wet). Trainers for batting when it's nice and dry.  I've not found anything that feels as light to wear.  They've lasted me at least 6 seasons so far. Up to about 2 years ago I would play about 20 games a year.  In all those years, I have probably only slipped a couple of times when fielding, never had an issue when bowling (but I don't run in very hard).
