Tommy - I think that Christian was being humourous about the fact that I used wander instead of wonder in my sentence!
And then he was being ironic when he said speeling (as apposed to spelling)  ;D

Sorry, if that was the case then I missed the irony. Apologies.

I think its the flambouyant style of his batting!!
He plays shots that test players don't usually play and therefore he's quite exciting to watch.
Thats the only thing I can think of!

I do like watching him, but I prefer watching Sehwag or KP when they're on form personally.

He's an exceptional talent and always great to watch in part due to his unorthodoxy and his aggressive batting. Also he averages (52.44) higher than any current England batsmen (besides Trott) despite having been dropped and he's only 21.

The stats are correct before the aforementioned duck.

He got a duck on his debut but came back from it! Hopefully this time he'll do the same.

I'm all for players playing to their strengths and if that means being unorthodox than fine. But Hughes' technique isn't up to scratch for facing high quality fast bowling.

Players like Sehwag and Pietersen are fairly unorthodox but at least they go back and across. A Test match opener shouldn't be running away to leg, to smear the ball thru the off side.

Hughes was very lucky to get into the side, his domestic First Class form hasn't been anything to write home about. He's scored 1 hundred since being dropped during the Ashes. The hundred scored was done so against a very weak Victoria attack, missing Nannes, Harwood, McKay, Pattinson.

Don't get me wrong I like watching Hughes play, he was a joy to watch during the Champions League T20, but he needs to iron out the issues with his technique.
