Oakley Radar EV Prizm Cricket sunglasses
« on: May 31, 2016, 12:29:10 PM »

After several months of saving up and looking at what feels like every single oakley model, I have finally joined the Oakley club.

After helping the Mrs buy her new laptop, I thought it would be only fair to reward myself with a little present. I had planned to get some radar locks or jawbones with VR28 lens but these only hit the shelves a few weeks ago. The lens have been designed for cricketers, perfect!

Not used them yet but very impressed with the build quality and lens. Anyone else got these?

Looking good. How do you find them? Have you tried them out in a game yet? Also where did you go to get them?  I'm on the lookout for a upgrade to my jawbones....

Only bought them yesterday, my LMS game in the evening used a white ball and it was cloudy so I didn't use them. I had quite a good conversation with the manager who had a lot of experience with Oakley's. He said that the VR28 lens were old technology and had been phased out due to these new lens. I will report back once I have used them.

I got them from a shop in Norwich called Ten-Eighty, they had a huge collection of Oakley's. Website link here - http://www.ten-eighty.co.uk/store/Oakley_Radar_EV_Pitch_-_Polished_White_-_Prizm_Cricket_Sunglasses.html

If you're looking at ordering online I'd recommend the below company as they are pretty cheap.

I emailed Oakley direct to check they were an authentic reseller as the website didn't look the best. Oakley confirmed they are a genuine reseller.

I recently bought a pair of the EV but with the baseball infield/outfield (maybe?) Prizm lens courtesy of a lovely 30% off from the Oakley store. Went custom with a black and orange style. I'm assuming it is a similar sort of lens to the one you have.

Quick little review from a couple of games wear; absolutely great on with uninhibited vision (much better than my old Radarlock ones, probably going to sell them) and even though I get rather warm and super sweaty, there isn't any condensation/fogginess throughout. Been a great purchase, but similarly to Strettons, when aren't Oakleys a good spend?! They also sit on my baggy hat perfectly.

Mine are on the 2016 kit post, keen as chips for these sunnies!  :D

VR28s are old technology now?
I still love mine regardless, but maybe this is an excuse for another new pair of Oakleys...

Correct Cam, the guy at the shop said VR28 was around 20 years old. My Mrs, who works in Optics and sells high end glasses, was very impressed with them.

I have to be honest I have ditched me (7 year old) Oakleys in favour for some bloc sunnies.

Worth looking at in my view. I am using the white daytona ones.

I recently got a pair of radarlocks from Toal Cricket where I net, two lens types included, was blown away when I played in them, dont even know you have them on, and as a bonus just got back from a holiday in Cancun and one of the Malls had an oakley shop where I picked up a spare lens, red iridium polarised for $104- they are £140 here...bonus!

Hmmm, I've got Radarlocks and Jawbones (they mainly get lent out to team mates)

Are these new ones really better for cricket than the radar locks?

Apparently these new lens are better than the old VR28 lens. In typical British fashion, I haven't seen the sun since I bought them.

I have some Oakley Radar's with the G26 lens which are great. Had em for 4 years now (mind you I only wore them probably around 30 times in all honesty. Frame is perfect but the lens coating looks to be chipping in some palces. Might have to see if I can get this lens.

The new Prizm lenses are very good.

They play with your natural spectrum to filter out some colours and highlight others.
