Looking up to the sky
« on: June 17, 2016, 10:29:32 AM »

I was having my eyes tested the other day and I was just talking about how my contact lenses were performing for me during cricket. One thing my optician said was quite interesting which was that if you look up to the sky (not at the sun) and blink you will align your lenses better and also you will be able to focus on the ball better generally.

I always wondered why batsmen on TV looked up at the sky a lot when there was poor light. This is probably old news to a lot of people.

I always thought it was for divine intervention!

Handy to know though, might give that a go!

I was told it was to dilate the pupil so more light could get in and they could see the ball better, which I would guess matches what your optician said

Never worked for me mind

People at my club tried this, never worked but probably more down to their ability...

I can picture the scene this afternoon, as hoarders of CBF batsmen around the country, gaze longingly at the heavens in the hope of a few extra runs

( I shall certainly try it!)
