Club in Melbourne, Australia looking for players.
« on: July 05, 2016, 08:26:52 AM »

Hello people.

Looking for new members at Royal Park Reds cricket club. We are a very inclusive club, so this goes out to all. Would also like to mention if any English/overseas lads/lasses are looking for a club in Melbourne this coming season ( starts in September). Last two seasons we have had two different English boys come down for the season and it has been a big success.

Information about the club.

* 4 teams. First 11 will be playing on turf ( Our first season on turf). Next two teams play on synthetic. These grades play a mixture of one day cricket ( 40 overs each) and two day cricket ( 80 overs for the first 11 and 75 for the other two grades.) Our next team is a one day side ( 35 overs). Obviously this grades represent some level in grading based on talent and seriousness, but all are pretty relaxed and diffidently not in the 'paid' bracket.

* Socially we all like to have a drink after the games. Good times.

*Training is Tuesday and Thursday.

* Subs for the year are 150$ for employed people and 50$ for concession. On top of this there is a 10$ ball/umpire fee each game one plays or 15$ if we have two umpires for the game. ( This only really happens in the first 11 or finals.)

* The club is about a 10-15 min tram ride from the CBD and is about a 2 minute work from the train station. Located in the beautiful Royal Park area. The Melbourne Zoo is in this area, less then a 5 minute walk.

Any questions ask away.

We do have a day during the season called Partner/Family day. Partners get to drink for free, including wine and champagne. I'm sure this new information will make her choice easier !  :D

I'm not very good at batting, bowling or fielding. I can drink though, where do I apply :)

Very tempting! Could be swayed by coming over for a season - we get the Aussie boys come over every year, and it'd be nice to go the other way!

Is there a lot of work available in the local area for a pom?

You sound like our model member of the club !

In terms of where the club is geographically, there is a lot going on around the area. Obviously depends on what you what to do and what not. If you['re looking at pub/bar work, there is the CBD about 10 minutes away and the area we are in has a lot of these sort of establishments, which I am sure you will be able to find some work. PM if you want more details about this sort of stuff and ill even post on our facebook page and see if anyone can help out in this department, would be great to have another Pom play for us.

Yeah that was me, all me. I mistimed my posting/absence as badly as most of my cover drives.

There is something nice about having a few players come across from the other lands, I wish we had a few more each year.

Please do, more the  merrier !!
