Sidearm Elite V2
« on: July 06, 2016, 07:42:27 AM »

Was in GCCC today and saw that they have the new Elite V2 in. It's pink with black rubber on the handle which stands out quite a bit to me. Anyone used one of these yet? Just wondering if they are worth upgrading from the Pro (unlikely, but never know unless you ask).

Link to KD sport as the link works better than the GCCC one - http://kdsport.com.au/coaching-aids/sidearm/sidearm-elite.html

As per IJC's video the elite got some issues with the build quality. Here is the link for IJC review

I am using Pro for more than a year now and very satisfied with it. It is fun when u learn to throw different deliveries like inswing or outswing etc.

Saw that video a while back. At the time they must not of had the Elite V2 ready, but it looks to be now.

Looks to have been released over here before it has over there in the UK. Only arrived this month so they look to be very new. The V2 is made in Britain

I saw a sidearm elite (white plastic, black handle?) snap the other week, it was rather impressive! The rubber handle was still in the coaches hand while the rest flew at the batsman.
If the new one is a bit easier to control (nothing like a sidearm beamer to keep you on your toes) then I think it's worth the investment.

Sidearm recently switched all their manufacturing to the UK and in the process dropped the Elite model from the range.

There were 2 reasons for this. Firstly they had some quality issues with the Elite model and secondly, it turned out that the Pro model that was being manufactured in the UK actually performed as well as the Elite model, but without any quality problems.

For the Australian market, there is an Elite model, but that is actually the new UK made Pro, just badged up as an Elite.

Hope that all makes sense.

Ahh there we go. Thank you for clearing that up :)

Still unsure if I should upgrade. Maybe I'll just stand closer  haha

As I mentioned in the video and VKS backed up - there is no Elite in the UK. I like the new purple colour scheme on the Pros, and they have been tweaked to be similar to the Elite just without the vulnerable glass fibre (I think!) that was present in the eminently brekable Elites!

just my two cents worth, on the gccc web page it says the V2 still contains fibreglass.
However Im sure they have rectify the issues with the glass

I've just purchased the pink coloured Sidearm 'Elite V2' here in Australia and in the short time I've had it have found it a great piece of kit.  Given that it's still winter over here most guys aren't really interested in having a net so it's just down to me and a mate, with the Sidearm and with a 6 ball's it's easy to get 15mins each batting in without the bowler breaking into a sweat and allows the batsman to face a great number of balls that they normally would with regular bowlers bowling to them.  The only issue we are having is trying to get the knack of bowling slower off + leg spin deliveries and finding it a little difficult with the release point on slower balls and they end up coming through to fast or being pitched too short.  Can any one offer some tips?  I was thinking that the Sidearm 'Elite' is really focused on sending down faster deliveries?  Would the less stiffer Sidearm 'Club' be better to use when trying to bowl spin deliveries?

@BD i struggled with slower off spin/ leg spin with Sidearm Pro so Elite being much stiffer i believe will be much harder to bowl these slower ones.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm happy to purchase a 'Club' as well if this is going to make bowling spin easier and at a more realistic pace.

Cheers!!
