A day of Test cricket for the old timers in St Lucia. In the modern day after a full 90 overs India only scored 231/5, a run rate of around 2.5. Starting to wonder the quaity of cricket ball used in this series. Soon as the ball gets 40 overs old, it seems nearly impossible to hit it off the square. KL Rahul continued his good form with a speedy even 50. But the rest of the top order was blown away. R Ashwin 75* and Saha 46* helped India recover from 126/5 to 234/5 at stumps. Windies will be cursing getting the wicket of Ashwin off a back foot no ball by Gabriel. With Jadeja and Kumar still to bat, the India might be looking for another 100-125 runs.

I'm starting to think the WICB have requested pitches where results are damn near impossible to achieve. The Indians posted 353. Ashwin with his fourth Test century and second of the series. Saha also brought up his maiden Test century. Alzarri Joseph bagged 3 on debut and Miguel Cummins finally bagged his first wickets as Test level, he also ended up with 3 victims. West Indies closed on 107/1 off 47 overs. On the second day the pitch just seemed to die. No pace. Difficult to score runs on.

Quick update on this one. Day 3 was a total washout. The match, as I presumed as heading for a dead certain draw. But boy was i wrong. Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced a sensational spell of swing bowling with the second new ball to destroy the West Indian innings. Windies collapsed from 129/1 to 225 all out. Kumar finished with 5/33, could've had 6 if India didn't drop a few dollies. India gained a lead of 128 and promptly came out to score quick runs up setup the game for a day 5 declaration.

Rahane is seriously a master of all conditions. Averaging over 50 is away Test matches. Considering he's only played 5 matches at home thus far he should get his career average above 50 sooner rather than later

So India's quest for the number 1 ranking is a foot. West Indies have been set 347 runs to win off 87 overs. Miguel Cummins has enjoyed his second Test a lot more than his Test debut. He followed up his 3/54 in the first innings with a career best 6/48. Granted a few charity wickets but the lad bowled nicely.

Truly a remarkable victory for Kohli and his troops. Going someway to erase the errors from the second Test. Kumar was obviously the catalyst behind the opportunity to press for victory. But the return of Shami has added an extra dimension to the Indian attack. Shami adds pace and hostility to their attack. They've got a lot of bases covered with their bowling. Kumar = swing. Shami = pace. Ashwin = all rounder/master spin bowler. Jadeja = superb spinner. Only real area of concern is Ishant as he's hot and cold. I think the lad with the weird action Bumrah coud take Ishant's place.

Interesting to note that it's the first time India have won more than one match in a series in the Caribbean. According to Ian Bishop weather in Trinidad is poor, so India might need another inspired bowling effort if they want that number 1 rank.

Going for a win is the best option, not for ranking per se but to the carry the momentum into the home series coming up against England !

Fourth and final Test match had started at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.

Both sides make changes. For West Indies Dev Bishoo comes into for Alzarri Joseph on s pitch that's expected to turn big. For India a couple of changes M Vijay(rightfully so) regains his place ahead of Shikhar Dhawan. The second change is a bit weird. Ravi Jadeja has been left out in favour of the misfiring Pujara.

Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bat.

I guess rain is going to continue playing spoil sport for this test match !

Dhawan deserves to be dropped. Rahul, Kohli, Rahane, Saha, Ashwin - all these guys have scored centuries. Dhawan is still stuck scoring odd 50's here and there. WI series was a very good chance for him to establish a place in squad. At this point India's best opening pair would be Rahul - M Vijay.

Incredible hitting by the West Indies in the power play. Smashing the Indians all over the shop! The lads from the Caribbean love this T20 stuff!

78/0 after 6 overs from the Windies. Johnson Charles has hammered 51 off 21 balls. No Chris Gayle today, not making any difference
