Just got off the phone with a bloke at GN and he says both the M and S stamps indicate when it was made rather than who it was made by. He did say he could go look up what year/s those codes corresponded to but i told him not to worry cos i know mine was 08/09.

Anyone know what maker 'S' refers to? Would be interested to find out where my GN was made as it's not quite the normal fare.

My GN Bat with S stamp was picked up from Kranzbuhler - he made it. Another forumite from AUS confirmed it as well.

Yeah im sure he did. Just dont get hung up on the stamp, because as was explained to me today by GN, thats not what the S means.

That phone message makes no sense. Bat made in 2015/2016 also has an "S" stamp? GN has ran out of letters to indicate year of manufacture or knowledgeable staff answering their phones?

I dont know which stamps might correlate with which year/s or exacty how their system might work, short of the very obvious, as like i said i didnt bother asking. The fact the place is more like a "back door" to the factory than your typical stand alone retail store im more inclined to take what the guy said as being correct. He was quite emphatic when i asked. And would make sense in my case, if my Legend was made by Stuart but has the M stamp. Anyway, ill dig a little deeper next time im there.

Interesting, I thought it was the other shoulder that was the year - my two Nemesis' are I think from consecutive years and have I and J. Would be surprised if a Kranzbuhler bat has made a convoluted journey to me,  but then it is an absolute gun - who knows. Thanks for asking manno, looks like we may still be confused though ha.

Edge - I can understand the confusion when theres no solid explanation published by the manufacturer. And if i had a GN made in melb that came with S stamped into it id probably like to assume that must mean Stuart made it too. Dunno about I and J but again, if consecutive years as you say likely confirms its a code for when a bat was made rather than who made it. Itd be a shame if finding out who made your bat (of the local handmade stuff) wasn't as simple as checking for a particular manufactures stamp but I can't say im overly concerned whether mine was made by Stuart or the work-experience kid. The bat is what it is....

My Kaboom has a T on the top of the shoulder and a large A on the back of the bat

T is this season A is the willow grade , have a look if your bats have both shoulders stamped ie year & maker , now those with two As on the back stamped top & bottom of the blade plus a T stamped on the left & an S on the right  of the shoulders well you have hit the jackpot  & just to confuse the topic even more , there are 2 different s stamps

And i bet which stamps are used to indicate what have changed over the years and between different bats. GN should release a historical chart!
