Thicker Handle
« on: August 03, 2016, 10:48:59 AM »

Short and sweet - I'm wanting to thicken up the handle at the bottom - have had bats with a nicer feeling handle before, so never felt the need! Best time to do it as I need a new grip anyway!

I'm wondering what tapes people use (i.e. elastoplast or something similar) - and how easy is it to get a grip back over the top of the tape?

Thanks!  :D

Use fabric strapping that's what I use and the grip goes on no problem

Don't use anything that's really thin and flimsy - you will end up having to use multiple layers of tape, and thin tape can tear when you're rolling down the grip.

I think anything other than thin scotch tape would be fine.

Any chance of getting someone to double bind the bottom half?

That's a good DIY projet. Pretty easy  (albeit slightly messy!) to do by hand.

Was thinking of a double-binding, which could be possible! Although messy :D

I'll try some fabric strapping - kit bags full as I'm never in one piece!

I put a G&M shock absorber under my std grip on my Kudos2...thickened the bottom of the handle up nicely

Bought a bat off @19reading87 and rolled up the grip to find what I assume is a cut toe guard with tape on to make it feel like am oval shape. Good idea, maybe a few different items to use instead but a good idea to create what you want.

Have used hockey tape on one bat handle and just make the handle bigger where it suited me. Slightly expensive but was a good experiment and feels lush in the hands.....sweeky in the gloves.

Have a you thought of trying half a grip under the main one? Easier to remove if you don't like it in the end

You could cut up grips into 3inch inch long strips apply them till you get the thickest required.

What @ElPerro and @Seniorplayer said...I fuss with my handles too and a thin (cheap  :D) second grip or half helps.
