Has anyone actually seen Hameed bat?

I can't help but think there is always a bit of a club cricket mentality evident in these type of threads. You know, that thing where it seems impossible to actually have the same batting order two weeks running?

Cook will keep going for another five years, especially when he has Sachin's record in his sights, it's a case of who partners him and hoping we have someone who's an established test cricketer by the time cook calls it a day.

Don't usually see openers last as long as middle order players. IIRC Smith, Sehwag and Strauss where all around 33/34 when their powers waned. Cook's longevity will be determined by this winter and the following winter in Australia.

Cook relies more on grinding and concentration than natural ability (which he has) like the others so I can see him lasting longer and getting close to Sachin as long as captaincy doesn't weigh him down as I think that will finish him before he is no longer good enough

The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

My future prediction... Lewis McManus, Hampshire's keeper.  Proper keeper - some of his stumpings have been outrageous and he definitely can bat

  • Love a legside stumping.

Some of the keepers Hampshire have produced have been outstanding. If only Michael Bates could bat at the top level he wouldn't have already practically retired in his mid 20s

Life goal - to play a Kane Williamson dab to 3rd man for one.

I agree, although I think cook will step down from the captaincy after next year's ashes.

If Cook's not captain, I'm not sure he stays under a new captain(Root). Fully expect Cook to be squeezed out like Pietersen...

I will happily wager that the opposite will happen.
Why the hell would the ECB squeeze out the ultimate comapany man?

It's detrimental for Root's leadership of the side. It was like when Ponting gave up the captaincy but remained in the side. Clarke was afraid to criticize Ponting out of respect

Has as many Div 2 runs as Duckett this season - at at a similar average. Only 19 years old.
