Cricket tour to Holland 2017
« on: September 12, 2016, 06:58:09 AM »

Long time lurker and very infrequent poster here chaps so please be gentle.

My club is celebrating our 30th season next summer and we are weighing up touring options ahead of the AGM at the end of the month.  We've been on a tour every year since 2001 and we are looking at probably one big last hurrah as old age and lack of numbers calls stumps on the club.

I'm aware that we do have a number of members based in Holland and wondered if any of them would be kind enough to give me some pointers on when and where would be the best clubs and places to get in touch with visit. We are very much a team that enjoys the social side of playing cricket. The average age of the membership is 50!!!! and no one plays league cricket during the season. Our fixture list is made up of Wednesday night T20 matches against local pub and works teams and Sundays we play against local village sides comprising OAP's like ourselves and teenagers.

Many thanks

If the Netherlands doesn't work out I have plenty of contacts for tours in Europe where we've been - Portugal and Croatia seem like the best bets.

Many thanks guys for the advice.

I'll try Jaffa first and if we strike a blank I may come back to you Julesoak.

My experience is that the Dutch love a touring side, just Google a few clubs and speak to the contacts, they are usually pretty friendly.

Just seen this. I'll agree with the friendly welcoming attitude. I'd recommend trying clubs near the beach so it'll be cooler during the summer and the views are great.

Try Quick Haag, HBS, Groen Geel, Rood Wit and Ajax. Or if you want to try Amsterdam try VRA or ACC.

Contact details can be found here... http://kncb.nl/informatie-clubs/

Good luck. If you need anything else let me know.
