They need 31 of a board of 41 which includes the chairman of all the county boards including the non FC ones, the chairman of the MCC and the chairman of the minor counties association.

I really don't think this is going to work without overseas stars flooding into the tournament-which don't look likely

the T20 tournament is getting more successful from what I can tell. They need to have a block of games in school holidays and the Friday nights and keep it as it is. It can then run alongside the championship games.

for it to grow,,,,it needs to be backed......so County chairman need a safety net from called off games and possible low turnout

The ECB have lined their pockets from SKY, they say they want to grow cricket...well T20 is popular with the kids(and some of us old ppl) so go ahead.

time the ECB stopped putting the onus on County Clubs and backed it totally.

The deal the ECB signed with SKY helped dimish cricket at amateur cricket here, it's time for a bit of moral and financial payback.

Looks really poor to me, the games ive seen have been nearly empty compared to previous years!

i personally like the T20 Blast as it is, a lot of games are on friday nights, especiialy at trent bridge for some reason and i think that is a prime slot for FTA telly, imagine a game on C5 with 2/3 others available via the red button or on one of C5s digital channels!

This - for me the optimal would be one game shown live, followed by a highlights show either later in the evening or the next day (could imagine it'll be tricky to do the same night).

The BBC do a mid-week highlights show during the NFL season and it's bloody brilliant - something along that line would be better than nout too!

(I say this but then I have sky so somewhat add to the issue...)

At lunch on second day of Surreys CC game vs Warks there was a members forum. These are regular throughout the season where Richard Gould Chief Exec and Alec Stewart Director of Cricket attend and answer questions from members. Normally its naff with old farts moaning about the type of sandwiches in the pavilion and the quality of the members tent at Whitgift School before questioning every single squad selection. This one was a bit different and obviously featured the new T20 heavily. Below are summary notes made by a member of the supporters club (first published on oval-world.net). Very interesting, in effect our stance is we don't like it, we think its bad for the game but we wont publicly fight it because we don't want to alienate ourselves, however Mr Gould is "off the record" in favour of the #saveourcounties campaign that's been led up by Surrey members.

Most of the discussion was about the proposed city franchise competition. Discussions with the ECB described as "really frustrating" and confirmed that Club have been unable to discuss proposals in public.

In response to question about whether there will be pressure for a further reduction to the Championship: "I think there will be."

In response to question about the chances of success for the city franchise competition and its effect on the County T20 league: "Not sure if it's going to work, but two [competitions] won't survive."

The ECB do not want any rights to be retained for Surrey members for the new franchise, but this would not be acceptable to the MCC at Lord's, so "we'll let the MCC fight that battle."

Concluding comment on question about whether Surrey should call the ECB's bluff about the use of The Oval: "We hold the keys."

Their attempt to differentiate themselves for the Blast as they know they are in trouble trying to compete on the same level etc....

As i have said on twitter - what they don't explain is what they are going to do with wides and no balls - because surely then it isn't 100 balls! or isn't there an extra ball!
