One bright side is the sponsors - none of the three counties I could claim some connection have been permitted to have a team play there, but I can at least choose my favourite bar snack!

Nice of Pietersen to sponsor the Oval Invincibles though.

Just a thought... is the reason Joe Denly got a white ball contract and not a test one just so there could be one test player per team in the first round of the draft?!

Has to be up there with some of the worst cricket kit's around.

Names don't appear to be too bad.

Slap in the face for english coaches given all the teams have foreign coaches

Why not just call it English Baseball?!!

It will even out the equation since there is a sport called "American Football"...

Not strictly true because Anderson and Broad are test contracted players who haven’t got a team, although they’re both going to be ‘mentors’ at their local side!

But the same sort of thing did cross my mind. Although for the purpose of this you would’ve thought Denly would be more suited to the format than Burns.

Jimmy and Broad were never going to play though, so you do wonder! Denly will just get picked later you assume.

London Spirit must be a bit grumpy, late pick in the draw and they end up with Surrey's captain who's no good at t20 😂

It's very tough deciding what is "fair" payment for mens/womens. I would suggest viewing figures and attendances would be somewhere in the region of 5x less for womens, and the pay is ~10x less? All depends on how well the Hundred captures the imagination. I am like most people, a sceptic/cycnic and would be surprised if we see many 20k+ crowds anyway, however, it's obviously guesswork at this early stage.

In other news, to me it seems like Birmingham Phoenix (my local team :/ ) have been shafted in the draft too, having last pick on the top bracket players and last pick on the next bracket too. Surely getting a high pick in either bracket is a nice advantage rather than having 8th and 9th pick of the 100k bracket? Weird.

It's because they negotiated £125k (the highest salary) with Moeen whilst 5 of the other teams negotiated £100k or less for their highest paid icon player. If they'd got Moeen for £100k they'd have had first choice in the 2nd round of the draft.

I'd be surprised if any of this takes off either but it's going to keep being fed down everyone's throats until it can be hailed as a success  :( :D I'm not normally a raging feminist but if the BS goal of this tournament were really about getting more mums and kids (boys and girls) in to cricket then would it hurt so much to spread the total money a little more evenly? Of course "get mums and kids watching cricket" really means "make more money" and having some decent male pay to attract big names to the farce makes more sense there. Understandable but there is quite the gap nonetheless

Can't argue with any of these points. Be interested to know how they agreed the differences in mens/womens salary actually. Wonder how much of it was down to negotiation conducted by the representatives of the womens players and how much flexibility was given, or if the tournament organisers have just designated that amount and told them like it or lump it. To which, there isn't much reply :/
