Following on from the thread here earlier -

Always nice to see one of the big boys do something different, although not new in cricket bat terms (we have been doing this for the last year or so)- but it is obviously different for a big brand (sell at retail) this will no doubt offer something different "off the shelf" - not sure how the retailers have received this though, as I can just see a punter wanting a blade length in a particular model that isn't available. I see this as a transition period in blade length and I predict that the SSB will become standard (similar to the SH) within 5 years.
This is a design that we have done for somebody who likes the SSB

The advantage
1. Thicker shoulders (without adding any weight)
2. Either reduction in weight OR bigger bat (size) for same weight
Disadvantages
1. Only one we have had is for those who choke the handle they are a little bit more stooped in their stance.
The big advantage in my view is point 2 above.
